Today I received my 22" fullHD multitouch screen I bought off ebay for $ 215.
I will use it to create my first project. A touch screen jukebox that I will hang in my bar.

the idea is to mount the screen inside the wall and frame it with a picture frame.

First question I want to ask the pro's: Is removing the case from a touch screen any different then removing a case from a normal LCD screen?

Not really except you will probably have a touch sensor over the actual LCD panel. I've taken apart some 17" NEC Touch screens and the only thing different between a touch and non touch model was an extra pane of glass over the LCD panel that senses touch and translates it into mouse clicks.

Of course there was some wiring diffences, but it was generally the same. Just be careful and you will be fine.

Many times thats not even necessary or desirable since the frame creates a professional bezel. Can it mount flush to the inside of the wall?

struisje:

I'm gonna have to try that first.
I want the screen to be level with the wall.
when the screen is in the case it is about 3-4 mm deeper
I'm gonna have to try it to see if I can live with that :-)

hopefully I won't have to remove the casing.

Jump over here (and then pull down a page).

I found upon close inspection that the plastic bezel appeared to be an integral part of holding the touch screen glass in place. I did not see the utility of removing it and then essentially having to rebuild it again.  I chose to embed the screen behind a bezel of my own making using thin hardboard.
