Hey guys, noobie here saying hello

I have been wanting a home arcade cabinet for a long time because Xbox and PC just doesn't do games justice. Then ran across this site recently and realized that it doesn't have to cost 1,500.+ for a prebuilt one. I found a Taito cab for $75 this weekend and dropped it off at my parents since my apt. is too small for the build (sure they weren't too happy but good about it).  I just want to say hi to the community.  I will probably have some questions in the future. I am a control tech. so the wiring will be a breeze but not so much on the woodworking and software end. Did have a question on the CP layout though. I am doing a 2 player layout with 8-4 way joysticks 6 buttons each and 3" trackball. Player 1 and 2 buttons want to use the coin doors for credits. But wanted to know what other buttons to have. I have seen pause, menu, quit buttons on others and is that a set for each player? And one more thing. I saw in a post somewhere (can't find it) that there is a MAME meeting or something here in NH this June I believe it said. Anyone have any info on that? Thank you, looks like a great community.

As far as the Admin Buttons, I think it all depends how, where you want it. Start off with a plan with your standard Players Sticks and Buttons etc... then start playing with mame to see what type of changes you need so you know what admin buttons you need. Some just use a hidden keyboard and use that for admin. Some have the buttons on the CP itself. Mine, I only have F2, TAB, F3 for admin buttons and it's hidden inside the cab.

Maybe consider some Pinball Buttons if you like Video Pinball Games (put in the side of the CP).

I would use however many buttons you will need (Enter, Exit, Pause, Add credits, options and have seen others utilise volume with up down buttons or a spinner) then have minimal use of a keyboard, I just have a wireless to hand if anything goes tits up.

Thanx, for the info. And am going to make a mock up now before the control panel. Thank god for autocad at work.
