Seeking beta testers for new Polycade software!
« on: October 02, 2020, 08:00:37 pm »
Hey folks!

As this is my first time posting here, I'd like to take a brief moment to thank everyone on these forums! When I was learning how to build my own arcade machines, this forum was  the #1 source of information for me. StackOverflow for arcade machines  8) Never got around to posting since that was scary at the time, but here we are!

A couple years ago my teammates and I set out to build our own arcade front end, with the goal of creating a user experience that's easy enough for your mom to setup, connects you with your friends, and generally takes a re-imagined & modern tech approach to arcade software.

We will be releasing the software as a free download for anyone in a few months, but first we’re looking for beta testers who can give it to us straight about what needs to be improved or other features you want to see.

If you'd like to check out some of the unique features we'll have at launch, please visit here:

BTW - a couple notes...maybe these are deal-breakers for some of you:
* Currently only Windows 10 is supported. We'll add more OS's in the future.
* Currently only X-Input controls are supported, no keyboard encoders or D-Input devices will work. Bonus: you won't really need to map anything, most of it will be done for you. Reasoning: Downwell (and so very many more games) work using XInput controls right out of the box, no configuration required. Also, many modern games (like Downwell) are not re-mappable. Hence, using XInput not only makes life easier, it gives you access to more games.

Anyhow, would love to hear any thoughts you might have!

Cheers!
