- Fixed samples in Pachinko Sexy Reaction [Suppi-Chan]

- Major improvements to the Namco NA sound emulation. [cync]

- Sound in IQ Block. [David Haywood]

controls in the UI, fixes to existing games, and new sound support in
canyon,
polaris, sprint and ultratnk. [Derrick Renaud & Keith Wilkins]

problems in Geostorm and the 99 credits bug in Lethal Thunder. [Bryan

This is pretty intriuging...  (Although would this be any different than just chaning the priority via taskmanager?)

ANyone notice any performance difference with this change?

At least from my understanding, the only way you'd notice a performance change with this option is if you tend to be running other applications while running mame.

For myself, the only thing usually running in the background while I'm using MAME would be AIM and background services, both which don't use much CPU, so MAME wouldn't benefit from a higher thread priority (for me anyways).

However, this *could* be useful for frontends if they haven't been properly suspended after executing the MAME executable...  other than that, I don't see *much* use for it..

Not always true..... You see windows, particularly nt/xp builds have about 30-300 processes running in the background.  They are part of windows and are thus always running.  Often a few core processes are constantly given top priority to make switching between windows, navigation, ect  go smoothly.  Turing on high priority forces these processes down to the bottom of the heap.  You said they don't use much cpu space and in normal apps that would be true, but for emulation even a 1% process hog can screw up the timing and sound of some games.

You could notice a performance boost, particularly in sound quality as sound is so timing critical on many games.  I'm not saying you definately will, as your mileage will vary, but you might.

Actually no, it's just that mahjong games are easy to emulate as quite frankly, there isn't much to them....  Also many have porn and everybody loves porn. :)

Yowza!  I had no idea there was such a thing!  That was my second favorite Commodore 64 game (the favorite, of course, being M.U.L.E.)...
