Title: bad checksum when starting certain roms.. same roms work fine in older version..
Post by: greenday8616 on January 27, 2010, 07:00:53 pm
when I try to run turtles in time or the simpsons and the bootup screen shows which would check the original cab when it gets to 12c it says bad in red writing and freezes.. the issue is that the rom is fine.. using an old verison of mame32 but of these work.. when i'm using the newest commandline release they do this... i'm sure others do it too.. any advice??

Do your roms match the version of mame that you're using?

You fail to indicate which version you are using now?  If it's 0.136, there was a problem with all 8-bit eeproms in games - causing the auto-initialization or manual F2+F3 processes in most Konami games to work incorrectly in that one version.

You can use an earlier version (like 0.135) to create them instead or anything 0.136u1 or greater should work as expected.

Let me guess: You're running one of the clones, right?

MameFAQ (roms) (http://mamedev.org/devwiki/index.php/FAQ:ROMs#Why_does_MAME_report_.22missing_files.22_even_if_I_have_the_ROMs.3F) hints at the cause, and if you look at MAWS (http://maws.mameworld.info/maws/), you'll see that all clones had a rom set change in 0.133 (http://maws.mameworld.info/maws/romset/ssridersuda).  IOW, you need to update that game's romset.
