This is really only for power users or system admins, but if you fall into one of those categories, then I think you'll agree this is a really nice menu to be able to access.

Huh.  Worked in Vista like it said.

Windows is so full of hidden functions in the system DLLs I'm surprised something like this hasn't been out for years.  With the right "secret guids" you can do just about anything.  That's the whole basis for the things MS can do with Windows that nobody else can and a really big part of all the antitrust violations over the years.

@Chad: To True.

But this Godmode thing is quite handy!

Very cool. I like not having to "click-dig" my way to system options.

Microsoft just released a list of the several secret guids in response to the GodMode popularity.  I haven't tried any of them yet, but I am curious what each one does.

I'm currently trying to get out of this loop on my Vista64 bit laptop.  I created the folder on my desktop, but the command prompt is saying it can't find the folder to delete.

Edits:

Gahh...I'm an idiot.  I forgot the closing brace when trying to delete via the command prompt.

Ignore my previous warning about backing up.

Make sure if you try this and you get the "Explorer stopped working" loop at startup, you are familiar with safe mode WITH command prompt.  You'll need these instructions:

Navigate to the correct folder with the offending folder with ChDir.

Use the RmDir command on that folder.

Edits2:
I say you need to use safe mode with command prompt because simply using safe mode doesn't change anything, nor does a system restore.  You have to delete the folder to get control back.

Thank you for posting.  I get tired of poking around Control Panel trying to figure out where something is. This is awesome!  :cheers:
