Note: the topic is stolen from "Nightmare before Christmas".
My daughter gave me a copy of District 9.
My son and Daughter in Law gave me Ghostbusters PC video game, but I got to upgrade my video card to play it.
(Da** you Bill Gates!)
What did you get?

A couple good books, a new electric razor, a couple t-shirts from Thinkgeek.com, a new NCAA football game for my PS2, and some other misc. stuff.

A meat slicer and various bits of hiking gear. :)
We got to play Ghostbusters on the Wii and the PS2 yesterday. The Wiimotes make the game a lot more fun than the PS2 controller.
On the Hallmark theme, I got the Galaga ornament. :)

It's a different game from the other versions.
We kept Christmas small this year. I got a Wii, black wiimote with motionplus, black nunchuk, Gamecube controller w/Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, and a 500 GB external hd (didn't expect this one and since I have a Wii, it's appreciated!)

Lego Mindstorm ntx 2.0 and LXD75 sn6at telescope + 4.7mm eyepiece. Have to share both of these with the kids.
Got my wife Lasik. She's can't stop talking about how great it is to see when she gets out of bed in the morning.

That's what I wanted for Christmas, but we couldn't afford it this year. It would be awesome to get out of bed and be able to see! I'm legally blind and really am sick of contact lenses and glasses.
-
My wife's vision was really bad too and in the past couple years she's been having a rough time with allergies and her contacts irritating her eyes. She's had to fall back to her coke bottle glasses a lot. This was one of those gifts that really felt good. It was nice to do something that really made a positive impact on her day to day life.
I was amazed at how quick the procedure is and how quickly the eye recovers. It's really an amazing procedure.

I got a date with a chick!
-
Did you unwrap her?
-
I got some nice clothes and jacket from the GF. My family got me No More Heros, Madworld, Metroid Trilogy, and Scribblenauts. I also bought myself Torchlight (half-off at the time). I'm good until March.
I also got Season 4 of SNL. Can't wait to see the Frank Zappa episode...
(Oh and also the Galaga ornament) ;D

+1 on The Williams Collection. We've spent many hours on that on my house.

Yeah, I had the PS2 version already, but found the Wii version for $15 new and couldn't pass it up. It has more tables than the PS2, so that's nice.

+2. Its pretty much all I play on my PSP. I want to get the 360 version but I don't think its out over here yet. I hope it is coming out :-\
We decided that everyone in our family would only spend a little on each other this year which turned out quite nicely.
Me and the GF got a nice stainless steel spice rack and stir fry cook book from my parents and my sister. I got some screwfix vouchers from the inlaws which I think I'm going to spend on a ladder and I got some Boss Element EDT from the GF.
I have stopped smoking for about five weeks now so I'm hopefully going to buy a car for me today :)
-
A couple puzzles; Perplexus & KO Labyrinth, a Touch Screen Monitor, Wii Fit Plus, a set of Hot Sauces and a few things for the bar.
Also enjoying the kids Air Hogs. ;D

Congratulations to you Franco!! The wife and I quit cold turkey a year ago this Friday. This years resolution is to drop the 15lbs I gained

We decided that everyone in our family would only spend a little on each other this year which turned out quite nicely.
You know, when I was a kid, (way back in the 60's when dinosaurs ruled the earth and Elvis was alive AND thin), we were dirt poor, so I only got maybe 10 bucks spent on me. 10 bucks was a lot more back then than it is now, but it still wasnt a lot.
But you know, I had as much fun then and I still vividly remember the times.
One of my favorite memories is decorating the tree with strings of popcorn. All the way from popping the corn on the stove to threading the thread through each kernel to make the string.
So I guess my point is that maybe we should all adopt your strategy next year, because it really isnt the present, but the thought that matters the most.
PS congrats on the stop smoking..

Cheers buddy :)
I have found it quite easy so far (touch wood!) I should have done it ages a go.
Your going have to find another way to burn some calories now that your CNC is doing all your routing for you ;)
Put a deposit down on a car today. VW Golf 2.8 V6 4Motion. Happy xmas to meeee ;D
-
Replaced a stolen Ipod..... old one was 80 gb this one is 160 gb..... got a used kenwood home theater amp (with phono for my record player, 5.1 SS, sounds VERY nice) and an expensive guitar pedal (http://media.zvex.com/FLASH/fuzzfactory/ (http://media.zvex.com/FLASH/fuzzfactory/)) and last but not least a case of vanilla coke (i live in Canada so this was a US import) and of course those atari pint glasses

Really? I'm ambivalent. I got it b/c I'm building a HTPC, and I thought it would be a nice all in one solution to the wireless mouse and keyboard needs without being a large, bulky mess on my coffee table. Only gripe I can see at this point is that because I use the SPDIF audio out on my mobo, I can't use it to control my volume level -- I still need the remote for my amp for that :(
It does look slick though, and I really like the fact that it's bluetooth. Does anyone know of a place where I can get a bluetooth dongle that will plug directly into a USB header on my motherboard? I'd rather not have the dongle for this thing sticking out of the back of my HTPC enclosure, and I don't have enough PCI slots to install a bluetooth card.
-
This Xmas was pretty cool to me...Wife got me a set of harmonicas (ive been wanting to learn)...Got the Super Mario Bro for the Wii
(and i already hate it....hahaha) Got the 2 seasons of "Tales from The Darkside" and some clothes and candy. Also got some radioactive atomic sensor overdrive time contunium wristwatch (doesnt requires batteries) it picks up time from satilights and is solar powered (damn thing freaks me out)...Got gift cards from Lowes, so i know I will be using them toward a new cab...
2 of my friends got supplies to start making their MAME cabs...and they are calling me left and right to help them...probley start when the weather gets warmer...

360 MW2 console bundle.

But no Lasik huh...good thing you got your priorities straight :applaud:

Lasik would've only cost about $3500 MORE than all that.
-
I got my son a black wiimote and nunchuk... then picked up a Wiimote charging station... and of course, the station requires you to swap out the battery covers on all Wiimotes... and the replacement covers are all white.
:P
-
But once you put the sleeve on, you don't see the white cover anyway.
-
Can't use the sleeve with the charger. Not unless you cut a hole in the sleeve. The new battery cover is for contacts on the battery for the charger - and you have to take the WiiMotion Plus off as well because the charger doesn't fit that either. I took the sleeves off of all of our Wiimotes a long time ago because we were swapping out batteries so often they were more of a pain than a feature.
-
I recently saw an inductive charger for the Wii. You just lay the Wiimotes on a pad and they charge. No issues with the condom or motion plus. Same things been around for cellphones for a bit too.
Not sure what the battery technology is though. Been meaning to look into it. The 4 station pad was around $50 with the battery packs.
If they are LIPO or LION batteries (in other words not nickle based), they seem like an awesome solution. When my current charging station (or batteries) die, I'll probably get one. We've already had one battery pack die.
-
Is it really so difficult to remove the sleeve, Chad? ::)
-

Is it really so necessary to keep on there? It adds nothing.

+1
I took ours off when I got a rechargeable station and haven't touched them sense. Except to move them from shelf to shelf....
-
We had a Wiimote incident early on where one of my children let the Wiimote fly while playing baseball. It had the sleeve on and it hit the wall. With the velocity it hit, I can't imagine the sleeve would have helped had it hit the TV.
We ditched ours when we got the charger too.
-
I think it's more comfy with it, so I use it. I think it's especially better feeling when playing sideways (NSMB style).
-
I also ditched the strap once I got a Perfect Shot gun shell.
(Won't let me edit my post)
-
We ditched the straps too. Nobody used them anyway.

w/Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker
Oh no! Not Wind Waker! That's the worst out of all the non-handhelds, in my opinion. Let me know what you think after you're sick of sailing.

Same here. I hated those things. Quite the nuisance to get to the batteries. I'm interested to heart about the induction chargers and how long they take to charge. I did keep the sleeves for a over a year, but threw them away just a few weeks ago. Worthless.
I have kept the straps, though. Some people using those things just scare the hell out of me when it's concerning my 52".

Same problem I've been having. Only happens at work, not at home.
"An Error Has Occurred!
Session verification failed. Please try logging out and back in again, and then try again."
Which doesn't work.
Oddly enough, I edited THIS post (during the allotted time to keep the time stamp off), but I still can't edit the other.

Are you using Internet Explorer 8?
-
That sounds like a cookie issue.
-
Are you using Internet Explorer 8?
IE 7, actually. I keep meaning to install Firefox here, but haven't gotten around to it. Since it's a work computer, I try not to do too much to it, but I'll make changing browsers a priority.
-
Firefox portable runs very well from a flash drive. No install, no trace left on the machine. Get a 4gb flash and have at it!
-
Meh, I'll just install it.
-
Not that it matters, but I believe the time stamp showing that someone has edited their post only shows up if the edit is done after someone else has read the post. If you edit it before someone else reads it, the stamp doesn't show.
-
I thought it was that AND there is a short time limit on it? 90 seconds or such.
-
It's just a time limit I believe.
-
It's just a time limit I believe.
Oops, I was wrong.
How much time do we have? Couple minutes?
-
Now I remember! That's how we evolved the ethical standard here of marking a thread EDITED even if the forum marked it. I remember getting into hyperspeed arguments with Mr C where he would make a post, I'd quote it and reply, and in parallel he'd edit his post so it was different than what I had replied to and quoted. After a while it became obvious we needed to start self policing so that couldn't be exploited intentionally. It only gets used occasionally now but that was a big thing for a year or two.

Duh. This is normal behavior around here and especially in EE. :)

The Wind Waker is one of my favorite games of all time and one of the best Zeldas ever made, IMO. Much better than Majora's Mask or Twilight Princess (both of which are good games). The art direction is stunningly beautiful. And, unlike most people, I absolutely loved the sailing. To each his own, I guess.

I've not seen any that plug into a header, but I have seen BT receivers that basically just stick out a tiny bit from the USB port. Like this one:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833242001 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833242001)
-
This would let you more or less plug a dongle directly into the USB header. (http://www.google.com/products/catalog?q=usb+header+cable&oe=utf-8&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a&um=1&ie=UTF-8&cid=15471449974208564259&ei=HuFIS8TlEI2XtgeY9NXkDQ&sa=X&oi=product_catalog_result&ct=result&resnum=2&ved=0CBwQ8wIwAQ#ps-sellers) I mean, it technically would be indirect, but it would accomplish what you want at any rate.
