Title: DK jr. Issue
Post by: RichSorr on December 08, 2009, 03:25:27 pm
Ok, So i am not sure if this is a monitor or a board issue. I recently picked up a Donkey Kong Jr. and the left 1/8" or so of the screen is solid black (video is missing). None of the video adjustments helped, so could it be a bad chip on the board?

I am going to say it is probably your monitor. Needs a cap kit? (Unsure on these silly Nintendo monitors. Always a pain). The Donkey Kong at the local arcade was they same way and I think they just rebuilt it. Again, never liked Nintendo monitors but not trying to get you to buy a new one either.

Pictures, please.  Some non-drawable area is normal on this game.

Aha - classic bad cap issue.  Recap and you'll be good to go.
