Is there any way of adding a true S-VIDEO input to a composite-only TV by soldering some kind of interface to it? I know there are composite-to-svideo adapters but they don't look any better than composite so it doesn't help me.
Thanks

If you're going to do something that hard, why not just go all the way and go for RGB instead of S-video?

It's the nature of the technology. Composite is going to look crappy because there is no seperation of colors. That's what makes s-video nice. As soon as you conbine them (by any means) they are gonna look crappy. Might as well get the adapter.

Thanks for the input guys but I know how composite, component, s-video, etc. works.. I was just wondering if anyone knew whether it was possible (& cost effective) to add s-video capability using off-the-shelf parts from radio shack or whatever. I have a 25" TV but it only has a composite input. Its not a question of hooking an S-Video cable up to it, My video card has composite & S-Video outputs.. If need be, I'll do with composite, but if somehow I could "hack" my TV and add true S-Video to it, that would be wonderful!

Hm.. I really don't think that is even possible.
