Ok, I'm running Windows XP SP2 and followed Ultimarc's steps in removal of my old video card (GeForce Fx5200 AGP) yet Windows XP-SP2 does not recognize my Ultimarc ArcadeAGP Video card (7000 series). Any suggestions in getting this to work? I am also using a Wells Gardner Standard Resolution Monitor.
The card is not listed under display drivers nor is there anything referencing a conflict in device manager. Might my Ultimarc 7000 series card be bad? I have tried to fixboot and fixmbr along with chkdsk but still continue to not recognize the card nor does windows mentions "new hardware found". I also attempted to directly install the drivers from disc but receive the error that it doesnt match the display drivers installed.
Any help would be great!

Are you getting video from it?

I am getting a very low level resolution. I even purchased drivercleaner (drivercleaner.net) a utility to remove (supposed to remove) drivers, etc for Nvidia which is the card I had in there originally. I now have the Ultimarc ArcadeVGA 7000 series (ATI) in my pc with the VGA cable hooked up to it and I have output as i mention above just very low resolution. PC (blue screen) hangs and won't enter safe mode (freezes) and will not boot up off an install disc for use of the Recovery console.

you may need to re-install windows,
you could do this without a format (just delete the windows dir or even just put a new hardrive in,
and set in your bios to boot from cd,
usualy is a boot order setting there.
iv'e had a similar problem before with an arcade vga,got it 2nd hand,
The driver disc i got was damaged and when i tried to install
with a downloaded driver it just wouldnt work,
it may be because there so many versions of the card,
but now i mainly use dos.
I have 2 arcade vga's one is a ati 9000 based, ( i had problems with driver in windows but worked fine under dos)
the other is a newer 9200 based which always worked fine in windows,
give andy at ultimarc an email, he's a good bloke,im sure he'll help you out if he can.

make sure it is enabled and set to primary in both windows and bios

Thanks! Well the 7000 series card killed my new harddrive. Luckily I had backed it up at around 80% anyways. I could not even get into safe mode or boot from my Windows OS disk to reinstall or use the recovery console. So, I had to buy a new HD and reinstalled Windows XP SP2. I placed an order with Andy for the 9200 series ATI ArcadeVGA card. I will not touch that 7000 series card! Seems like people have issues using this with Windows XP.
Thanks for the help! Hopefully XP picks up this card when I install it. This was the last thing I had to do for my MAME cab....really sucks!

HM. I never had problems with XP and a regular 7000.

Ok, so with the 9200 series ATI ArcadeVGA card over the long weekend at first would just freeze at the Windows XP loading screen. I decided to try a few things. Note, that my DDR card currently in machine was a 1GB PC2700 card. This worked fine with the PC Monitor. However when I switched the 1GB PC2700 card out with my 2 older PC2100 (2-256MB) cards with the Wells Gardner Standard Rez monitor it booted just fine into windows. So, I have decided to scrap the PC2700 card and place into another PC. I have ordered 2 used ValueRAM PC2100 cards (2GB) from ebay. Same manufacturer as the cards that work with my board and this new 9200 series card.
Once again I had checked prior to buying the 1GB PC2700 card to make sure it was compatible with my board. Yet, it would not work with the Arcade Monitor on the PC monitor...
So, my cab is up and running now! :)
