Title: How to route space for a joystick?
Post by: shponglefan on September 30, 2009, 03:03:59 pm
I want to route a groove to raise my joystick a bit, but I'm not sure of the best way to do this.  Should I cut a template out of regular wood first, then use that template when routing the groove?

Yup, you got it.

Try to find a pattern router bit with a small cutting edge length (1/2"-3/4" or so is ideal). If you go any longer you may need an extra piece of material between your CP and template so that the bearing will run against the template.
