Heard it on the news this morning, very sad indeed. He's been ill for the last 2 years with it. All the news channels are of course mentioning dirty dancing and ghost, but I did a quick search on IMDB to recap some of the stuff he was in. Pretty impressive.....

I really never get the point of these threads....

 :dunno

Well, this was where I learned he was dead. I check this site more often than anywhere else.

Gotta give Road House and Point Break some respect. (Bad movies, but fun)

So people can share memories of the guy.

Of course, some posters (on facebook for instance) are hoping to be the 'breaking news' to their friends. My mom-in-law does this, but she's always a least 24 hours behind. It's really bad when we're over there on the weekend and she is catching up on Thursday's newspaper.  ::)

He wasn't looking good two or three months ago, despite all his words and types of treatments. I was kinda waiting for the end.

One thing I was curious about at the very beginning was, why?  I mean, he was a healthy and fit lad years ago. Had been a dancer, was gymnast quality-fit. What happened?

Cancer doesn't discriminate in most cases.

It is probably fair to say he survived longer because of his strong starting condition, though.

Smoking causes more cancers than just lung.  It's most popularly known for causing lung cancer, but there is a /very/ strong link between smoking and pancreatic cancer.  And Patrick smoked like a chimney.

Ironically a lot of dancers do... "keeps the weight down"...

I was thinking there was something like this, that I couldn't recall specifically.

And, mildly put, they seem to be pretty high-strung, anxious. Of course, there's the 'artsy-type' element, too.

And the fact that he was a recovering alcoholic didn't help either.

When you die, we'll be sure not to have one of these threads. ;)

That's the first thing I thought.
