Here is a design I am going to use for my arcade. Side art and Marque will use a same patter/theme/colors.
I started the design based on ProjectMame: http://www.koenigs.dk/mame/eng/stepprojectmame.htm
It is drawn in CorelDraw.

Some comments:
1. I don't like the "Nate's Arcade" font - too plain. Also, I'm not sure it is necessary.
2. Your button layouts are "off" meaning they aren't oriented the same way - Is there a reason for this? I would make P1 and P2 controls exactly the same.
3. I would move the "Go" button to the other side of the CP and leave the Exit button by itself. You don't want to accidentally exit out of a game when someone meant to hit the Go button instead (whatever a Go button does).
I like the colors and layout otherise.

Thanks for the comments.
My reply:
1. I will consider this.
2. There is a reason for this. I did have the layouts identical for both players but when I tested the layout side-by-side with another person our shoulders and elbows were jammed. I decided I should rotate each player outward until elbows don't touch.
I do agree they look weird. I am going to make cardboard cut outs and adjust them with another person until they feel comfortable and look balanced.
3. Good logistical advise. I will try this and see how I like it. The Go button will start a game from the frontend and pause while in a game.
