More importantly, when will it be in mame? :lol
-
I'd first replace the LCD with a real monitor though.....
Those things will become collector's items for sure.
-
I would just like the artwork!
-
So, who's the world record holder on Twin Galaxies ? Is it on KLOV.COM already ? :D
-
More importantly, when will it be in mame? :lol
Apparantly, (and not surprisingly) it doesn't need to be MAMEd at all, you can download it right here:
http://www.roguesynapse.com/games/space_paranoids.php
Reportedly, it's slow and jerky and full of bugs but hey, you can't excpect much for a free thing...

Yeah ? Already wondered Disney would let those cabs run something buggy.
But I guess the hunt for those machines is on now :)

The dead give-away is the stick/trackball combination, the core control system of nearly every modern FPS engine on the planet. The screen shot shows a radar view, what looks like player stats and a tank stat icon, none of which existed in the film or in any of the homebrews out there. If I recall from the film, the gameplay was somewhat "sticky" too, like playing Duke Nukem without the mouse. The gameplay in the videos from Comic-con plays too smoothly. Any of the modern FPS engines like Source, Quake or Unreal can be modified to look like this. Heck, Disney has more than a few in house engines they can re-appropriate for just such a purpose. Give it a few months, if Disney doesn't release the game, some mod team will make an announcement on one of the popular engines.
However, anyone notice the copyright notice? C 198? Encom? It looks like 1985, but I think it's 1982. Hard to tell.
-
Yup. 1989 Encom. Encom was the fictitious company which Flynn worked for in the
Movie.
Its too bad actually, as it looks like this game was rushed. The game concept
has some great potential... but this isnt quite up to par.

Well as many of you may know by now, this game is available online:

I cant seem to start the game. I click the mouse and it stays on the instruction screen

Try a different browser...
If you are using IE, try Mozilla... or the other way around.
It has worked for me using both
