I put in more hours then I care to admit into the game Iron Storm, but I have no idea if it still holds up against todays turn based strategy games.
-
dragonforce is one of my faves, its super expensive though, another fan fave is Gaurdian Heroes, which Im lucky enough to still have mine.

Radiant Silvergun is a great schmup. Dracula X was better on the PSX/PSP saturn version had HORRIBLE load times. you can send me the saturn stuff you dont want, it'll make up for the dreamcast and games you stole from me.

The best version, by faaaaaaaaar, of Dracula X is the PC Engine SCD version. That's just a fantastic game and one of my all around favorites.
Must haves for the Saturn:
The whole Panzer Dragoon series
Clockwork Knight 1+2
Mystaria
Virtua Cop 1+2
House of the Dead
Virtua Fighter 1, 2, Remix
Daytona USA and Daytona USA CCE
Bug and Bug Too
Nights Into Dreams...
D
Marvel Super Heroes
Powerslave
Shining Force III
Shining the Holy Ark
Shining Wisdom
Virtua Racing
Probably a bunch of others that didn't immediately spring to mind, too.

You're talking about a different game, though (just with the same title).

You're talking about a different game, though (just with the same title).
There is overlap between the two, obviously ported, but not original content in the Saturn version. Both are obviously Castlevania.
-
Yes, a lot of similarities, but not the same game.

Not 100%, no. There are levels that are nearly identical in layout and enemy pattern. Enough of them that I just consider them variants of the same game. I did beat them both if that helps.
-
Well, I haven't, so I'll shut up now. ;D

They arent even close to the same game.Drac X on PCE is Rondo of Blood; Drac X on Saturn is Symphony of the Night. there are similar enemies but not layout or level design. You dont visit the village from castlevania 2 (Aljiba but on fire) and you dont play as richter in SOTN (you can after you beat it), you dont play as Maria in SOTN (until after you beat it) in Rondo of Blood on PCE theres no multi direction whipping, you cant "flail" the whip (hold whip button, move Dpad)
you save hostages in DX:RoB but not SOTN, you dont have animal helpers, seriously, the list of differences is too immense to list in a single post because they arent the same game, at all. A huge clue is the fact the first level in SOTN on saturn/PSX is the last level from Rondo
-
Look closer... there's more overlap than that. :)
-
The reason I said anything was because you made it sound like you were talking about the same game on two systems. I was pointing out that it wasn't. Simple as that. Overlap doesn't matter.

overlap....
Alucard isnt even IN Dracula X on PCE the main character from Dracula X on Saturn is Alcuard
they arent the same game or a port over
PC game is: Akumajō Dracula X Chi no Rondo
Saturn/PSX game is: Akumajō Dracula X: Gekka no Yasōkyoku
Gekka no Yasōkyoku is a direct sequel to Chi no Rondo and takes place 4 years later (storylinewise) and introduced the RPG elements to the series, which is what really puts it apart from Rondo

The Panzer Dragoon's are a must have. After that I would say get Fighter's Megamix, a great 3D Fighter from AM2. Capcom made some excellent CPS2 ports on the Saturn, X-men vs Street Fighter, Marvel Super Heroes vs Street Fighter and Street Fighter Alpha 3. While the vs titles are obsolete thanks to MAME, the port of Alpha 3 is still considered one of the best to this day as it has the content from the Dreamcast version, but doesn't have the messed up V-ism timing and what not that the Dreamcast version has. For RPG's There are some good english ones from Working Designs, but they are very expensive today. There are some cheap Japanese imports though such as Grandia, Lunar Silver Star Story Complete, Lunar 2: Eternal Blue, etc. Finally some good Sonic Team games are Sonic Jam, NiGHTS, and Burning Rangers.
So in a list I would say these:
Panzer Dragoon
Panzer Dragoon 2 Zwei
Panzer Dragoon Saga (Prepare to pay an arm and a leg for this one)
Street Fighter Zero 3 (Around $80)
Fighters Megamix
Sonic Jam
NiGHTS into Dreams
Burning Rangers
Grandia
Lunar Silver Star Story Complete (Requires MPEG card, if you don't have that just get Silver Star Story)
Lunar 2: Eternal Blue
I didn't include the working designs games in the list because today they are very expensive, you will end up paying around $80-$150 a piece for a complete copy of each one.

very different type of game that some would like and others would hate but it was one of my best saturn games I ever owened it was called mansion of the hidden souls.
I actually may still have it somewhere but have not had a saturn in years but am thinking of getting one again sometime soon.
-
In that vein, D is one of my favorite games of that era. Not a ton of replay action there but it's a great play at first.
-
D is a good game. I never did get to play D2 on Dreamcast. Still need to get ahold of that.
