Title: Advice on using a LCD tv as a monitor
Post by: mcorben on July 17, 2009, 09:54:31 am
Hi guys,

I know the question has been asked a 100 times but I have a mame cabinet that I have been using for the last year. It has a 27 inch tv in it. I am using Mala as the front end. Besides using it for Mame, I use it a lot for Visual Pinball and Future Pinball. I'm running svga and to me the picture is blury. Its really blury with the pinballs. I'm thinking of upgrading to a LCD (yea, I read all the posts about how the original monitors are better). Would I would like to do is make a cross between a arcade cabinet and a pinball machine buy using a widescreen tv, so it will not be 4:3. I was also thinking about upgrading to Hyperspin. I found a 32 inch that MAY fit in sideways.

The question is, would this be a good idea? and will I be able to use it sideways?
So what do you guys think?

What kind of cabinet do you have?

I have a dynamo and the area I have for a screen is 25.5 x 25.5 so the 32 vertically wouldn't fit in mind :(.

But seeing the price of the LCD TV's I might go with a nice 26'' tv, 289$ vs 560 for Happ and other computer monitors :).

Yea, its really going to be a tight fit. Actually I'm about 4 inches too short for that monitor. I have a standard mame cabinet witha 27 inch tv in.
