I have a Dremel 395 that had the Flex Coupling disintegrate on me. The thing is probably a good 15 years old, maybe more. Still runs great, no wobble in the bearing.
I cracked it open to discover the flex coupling has gone bad, just turned to powder almost.
Anyway, I got online and ordered the part from Toolsforless.com, only to get it a few days later and discover that I'd ordered the wrong part! Doh. I got the pline drive instead of the coupling.
Anyway, in looking for the right part, i came across a post of a guy that had just called Dremel direct and ordered the part that way.

I decided, what the heck, and I called. Not only was the rep +really+ nice, the parts going direct were WAY cheaper (1.25$ vs 5.85$).
And to top it off, when she asked if there was anything else and I explained, no, I'd already got one wrong part and this piece was all that I saw that I needed, she comp'd the order! Granted, it was only 1.25$ plus shipping, but still.
That's a great way to handle customer support.
I'll likely be picking up one of those rotozip saws soon after all....

"she comp'd the order"
What's "comp'd"?
-
Made it complimentary, I'd guess. That's awfully good customer service.
Just how useful is a Dremel? I've looked at it a couple times in the store, but never felt compelled to purchase it. Is it quite useful, or one of those just occasionally helpful tools?

I love my dremel for minor cutting of things that i wouldnt be able to cut otherwise.....
the little cut off wheel rocks for bolts and screws......

Right, very useful for small stuff, mostly modeling, kit bashing, that sort of thing. With all the little brass bits that are going into my cab, it's come in quite handy. Picked up a polishing set and that works really well for polishing small things too.
And yes, comp'd as in, just sent me the part. Surprised the heck out of me!

I should amend my comments. I don't mean to imply that they'd likely comp any order that was placed with them! Hopefully that went without saying.
I was just pleasantly surprised that a big company would do that without even the suggestion from me. I just thought it was a great way to handle customer service.

Dremmel tools are very handy. We used ours to polish the metal on the old coin door we got (the silver coin slots) and they look new now. I've used it to cut off bolts and it has saved my butt from a big mistake a couple of times.

I need to fix my dremel so i can cut some bolts down for my control panel.....

Favorite dremel use: cutting slots in stripped out screwheads so they can be backed out with a flathead screwdriver.
