Hi
Whats the best operating system to use now to get the most out of mame and all the main emulators?
Is it best to use vista over xp? and Should i use 64 bit versions now?

I'd go with a 64 bit OS and use MAME 64. There is a pretty good speed boost and makes more of the newer games playable. As far as the actual OS... I am going to use Windows 7 X64 once it is released in the near future, but for now I am using XP64.

depends on your system.
do you have a 64 bit system if not go with XP home or pro

I do have a 64bit system, and also vista and xp.
So i guess vista 64bit is the best bet?

I say... whatever is free... unless you want to get about 10-15 more games running... Then go 64 bit... But other then those 10-15 games, it doesn't make a difference. (and only makes a difference I belive if you have an intel dual or quad core... AMD dual core doesn't seem to like the games that the 64bit likes)
But if you favorite games are rygar and archon... then they will all do.

xp all the way
I had to downgrade cause I kept running into problems with Vista
64x you have the Horsepower for it

I agree with XP, 32bit (or 64 if you can use it).
Vista has weird audio problems with a lot of programs because of the way audio's coded in vista. Same goes for Windows 7 (Although its much better than vista).
