Very nice!

I also like seeing your Safecracker and Monster Bash machines there. Where did you pick up the Attack From Mars?

I will post some pictures soon. The AFM I bought from Chad Keller but he did not restore it.

I see your shopping around for pins in my neck of the woods.

Looks nice dude.  You've accumulated a very nice collection of Mame and pinball in about a years time.  Dont blow through all your savings too quickly though!

Savings? HAH! What's that?

Don't really matter at this point, I am out of room. :(

Nah, man, cookie cutter collections are great because you can visit them and realize that none of those games are worth their asking price and go home and play your cheap stuff that's just as fun.   ;)

 ;D

I was thinking mostly the same thing... AFM and MB are status symbols.

You guys just cant help yourselves can you?

You two arent those guys that rebel just to rebel are you?  Do you really have a cause or are do you even know why your angry with the world?

I'm sure if either of you two had the budget for such pin purchases you would have a few "status symbols" of your own.

I do have a couple of pins that are considered status symbols, actually, but none of them cost anywhere near what a HUO AFM costs.  IMO there isn't a machine on the market worth $4000+ that isn't still in the box.  That's what some people will pay for these games, though, and it generally tends to be guys who sell it 2 years later having put 50 games on the thing.

What you're looking at is the difference in viewpoint between people who buy A list restored games for title alone and people who buy beaten up games based on quality of play and restore them.

“Status Symbols”? Seriously? I am the only person among my friends that owns a pinball machine and I certainly did not buy them to impress the group. I took the comment in a jokingly manor because I don’t know anyone who would blow thousands on something they don’t like just to gain the respect of an internet forum.  :laugh2:

Then you really don't know any other pinball people...  ;D  I know guys who wouldn't piss on a C title to save it from burning simply because the RGP crowd wouldn't ooh and aah at it.

I tend to stay away from RGP anymore, place is a sewer. Too many ---uvulas--- mixed in with a few nice people, it's a free for all if you ask me. Yeah... I know you didn't, I'm just saying is all...

You get out of RGP what you put into it.  I'm in the middle of this conversation (http://groups.google.com/group/rec.games.pinball/browse_thread/thread/491b035842ac26a5#) there now which is just fantastic.

I personally think the trick to that place is the least amount of posting the better. Ask questions when needed, otherwise don't make eye contact.  :bat

Pinball Bash is way more laid back.

Good people, little BS.

Did you just say that?

My problem with the cookie cutter titles (and I've had a couple low end ones) is that I realize how much some idiot will pay me for them, and how I could have two other machines I liked just as much, pay off some bill, take my wife out to dinner, and chunk a little in the bank.

Well Jim... It's my money and I will spend it as I damn well please, you will also be happy to know I will make more as well. So with that said, get pissed at these numbers.

Monster Bash $4,700
Safe Cracker $4,300
Attack From Mars $5,000
Mame Cab with PC (around) $5,000

Not that it is any of your business but I figure why not get you really pissed and have something to post about right?  :D

Better hide your wife, I'm sure she would love me!  >:D

ps. Safe Cracker is far from cookie cutter, it's about as cookie cutter as a Big Band Bar.

Quality or Quantity in my arcade but to each his own... No reason to bag on anyone. Ya like what ya like... Plain and simple in my book.

They should have given you a price break on the AFM for those powder coated rails. Love the game (I own one), but those red rails are painful for me to look at.

Regardless, enjoy 'em, I know I would.

I actually had the option to swap them out when I bought the game. Not sure if you would think different if you saw it in person but the pictures don't really do it justice IMO. The couple of my friends who have now seen and played the game really like the red, but that is all a matter of opinion.

I have since installed powder coated black legs which I think really makes it looks nice!

I'm tempted to powdercoat the rails and lockdown bar on the Black Knight I'm doing.  I'm on the fence about it.

Most I've ever spent on a game was $1200 - that includes Fathom, Revenge From Mars, and Twilight Zone.  I'll end up a lot more than that into the Fathom once it is restored, though.

I can't believe you guys are giving him hell for spending his money. If he has it, then he can spend it on what he wants. Cost is relative to the size of your paycheck. To Visitor Q, $5k may be nothing. To me, $5k is an"OMG I can pay off all my debts and stop stressing" amount.
Not everyone wants to or needs to buy a junker and fix it up. Given the choice - I would MUCH rather buy minty HUO pins. I don't have the money, so I don't. Pin restoration is a major time investment. I did it once for the experience - I don't plan on doing it again. I would rather play the games.

Buy what you want dude, and enjoy it.

Thanks for that. I am not trying to throw anything in anyone's face here, I was simply trying to share my passion like most others on this site.

I'm not giving him hell.  I'm commenting on the marketplace in general and the disparity between the price of certain games for which there is nothing other than prestige to justify the difference.  A game like Attack from Mars is a good game but it's not 300% better than most other DMD games.  Of course Visitor Q can spend his money how he wants - I didn't say otherwise.

I think he has some great machines more than I can afford & its not really anyones dam business what he spends.  If I had more money I would have a much bigger gameroom & nicer machines.  Safe cracker is a machine i wish i could own

Yeah.

I think if we all had the money and space our collections would be much bigger and there would be a whole lot less nit picking about other people and their buying choices.

Or, as we said, for some of us that's not the issue.  Not that I have tons of money floating around but I have had and sold A list titles because they weren't worth as much to me as the 3 B list games I could get with the same price.  Hell I couldn't get rid of that Twilight Zone fast enough once it was shopped nicely.

There is room for both philosophies in the hobby.

Coming Soon...

New Decals for Ramps (On Hand)
New Plastic Set (Maybe but not needed)
New right ramp (On Hand, not really needed)
Shaker Motor

What do you think of Martin's (Pinbits) shaker motor?  My buddy installed it on his AFM, and I think it is an awesome mod.  I was actually lucky enough to visit Martin and he gave me a demostration on how shaker motors work.  Super nice guy.  I got to play his Medieval Madness with a shaker using his beta software at the time. Those are 2 games that are bumped up a notch with the shaker installed.

AFM is an awesome pinball machine.  I love the flow and speed of the game.    Never been a fan of Safecracker, but I do appreciate the originality that Lawlor put into it.

When I went to buy the shaker motor it was sold out, I sent them an email to ask when it would be back instock but never got a reply.  :dunno
