Title: Can Mame auto flip screen modes?
Post by: LeedsFan on June 17, 2009, 01:26:41 pm
Sorry if this is a n00b question, but I did search a while first. I'm wondering if Mame has the option to set itself to display vertically/horizontally for which game you load? I'm using MaLa frontend and that's set to full screen horizontally. I'd like Mame to be able to flip to vertical mode automatically for classics like Pacman/Donkey Kong etc. as I'm developing a rotating monitor system. I'm using Mame.88 by the way.

start up the game, press the TAB key.  Go to video options, and in there are rotate controls.
Once you get it set the way you want, it'll remember the setting for any future plays of that game.

Fast response! Thanks, I never thought about the TAB menu. I thought there might be something in the Mame.cfg file to do it every time. But this will work too of course. Thank you.  :applaud:

EDIT:  lol.... I can't find it in TAB menu. I can see a choice of upright or cocktail display... but not horizontal/vertical. I checked all the menu options.  :dunno

ah, now I read mame 0.88.  they must have added that later on, because it's in there now.  are you absolutely stuck with 0.88?
otherwise, you may have to do a custom .ini file for the games you want rotated.

That's odd. I could do that with Mame .0.84.

BUT....

You want to use the auto rotate ROR and ROL functions anyway, which are in the mame.ini
