Title: older 64 bit mame?
Post by: clok on June 02, 2009, 11:16:55 am
I recently lost my mame drive (vista 64 service pack killed it, why? no idea, after a few calls and enough googling to last a lifetime i gave up and reformatted). I had ( i think) .123  Well a fresh install and I see several roms not likeing the latest MAME version, not to mention other wierd things (slow downs etc). Anybody have an older compile of mame about that version? MAME page has older releases, but no 64 bit (unless its all zipped under the windows binary?)

I would suggest compiling your own with Mame Compiler 64. Its easy enough and you could use the hi-score/no nag patch.

My system is in a steup where plugging in a keyboard/mouse (its totally joystick run), running a cat5 cable to is it a hassel. I do not have any other 64 bit OS's running to compile it on. I do understand it fairly easy to compile (used to program for a living back about 6 years ago (dont miss 36 and 48 hour sessions with 4-6 hours of sleep in between)). Since its so easy I figured somebody would have an older one someplace. I wish i had tested a bit more before i installed it. As i said i had a perfect working version from about a year ago, finally got my system all togther and running, did the vista update before i was doing the final install as it wont have a net connection and vista died. I spent about 2 days reading and trying to "recover" with no succes. Spent about a day getting the whole system back going, installed the latest MAME, tested a few games and was happy. Put it all togther, and installed in its resting place  :)  now I find a few roms dont work (that did before) and some stuff runs wierd. Its my own fault, and was just asking..  I could duel boot something... but installing an OS to compile seems like a hassel.

I think i have a core2duo optimized 64-bit 0.124 on my machine, should be close enough to run most things.
