Quarter mode
Why, oh why, is this not in SF4 yet?
Its really nice to see so many fighters, XBLA (and PSN I guess) are going to match the DC soon!
-
This is probably going to come out exactly the time when I get tired of SFIV though that tournament mode is a blast.
-
^ tournament mode is random as hell..these clowns look like they started playing sf with sf4. i saw some dude WALKING BACK with guile for sonicboom :laugh2: :laugh2: I saved bunch of replays from the finals I won. gonna have them on youtube later on..
as for marvel..id play but i am easily the worst player ever..$hit is too fast and makes me dizzy :dizzy: thats of course "high level" play. id probably smoke most people online lol..
-
I never had a Dreamcast, but my buddies did, and we played the daylights out of this game. I'm pretty excited to get my hands on it again.

Yeah, I have a custom mix I made for the DC, got rid of that annoying music and 'take you for a ride' crap, lol
-
This is REALLLLY good news, and best of all its the Dreamcast version and not the inferior PS2 and Xbox ports....Maybe now Gamestop will lower that $80 price tag on both of them once this is released.

My only problem is that everything comes unlocked. I mean, that's half the fun.

Zuh?
Unlocking content in fighters is terrible imo. Unlocking fluff; colors, personal actions, stages, artwork, etc is good. Unlocking characters, thats just an annoyance. I dont know if I will ever unlock Seth in SF4, who wants to play that much single player?

I agree. I have everyone else unlocked, Seth isn't worth my time.
-
What fun is it to have everything unlocked at the beginning? Unlocking stuff is fun and gives you incentive to play a lot more.
-
For me, I don't have as much time as I'd like to dedicate to playing video games. I don't want to spend the limited amount of time that I do have trying to unlock a bunch of characters.

Playing fighting games against the computer is like playing tennis against a wall. Maybe its fun when you start out, trying to learn the moves, but pretty soon you want to play against humans, and once you do the wall is insanely boring, and not even helpful from a learning standpoint.
Ive logged I think 27 hours on SF4 so far, the first two were dedicated to unlocking characters, I have no desire to ever play single player again when playing with people on XBL is so much more fun and rewarding. Seth will only get unlocked if someone else does it on my Xbox, or a fund gets started to coerce me into doing it.
The incentive to play, should be a fun and balanced game that makes you feel like you can and will get better with more practice. Locking characters does the opposite, by forcing the user to do something they may not want to do in order to access all the content. I cant tell you how many times Ive had to unlock all the toons in Soul Calibur on Dreamcast, and each time its as terrible as the first.
Beat em ups are for playing against the computer, fighting games are for the rock paper scissor game against a live breathing opponent.
-
The AI definitely has some merit - especially for more casual players who don't feel like getting beat up by pros.
But I totally agree about unlocking characters. I think it's probably an annoyance for skilled fighter players who just want to get into vs. mode, and it's probably a hurdle for casual players that aren't willing to dedicate that much time.
It doesn't bother me terribly, because I'm a glutton for wasting too much time playing fighters, but that's just me.

id probably smoke most people online lol..
And if not you can just rage quit. :laugh2:

I rather enjoyed unlocking characters , stages, color, and music....not so much.
I was kinda hoping they'd have the original 50 or so characters unlocked and add some new ones to unlock.

Although it's very wishful thinking, that would be sweet. I'd love to have more characters, like deadpool or especially some more obscure ones like Maggot, i always liked him; not sure what his moves would be but oh well

So has anyone else played the demo yet? It definitely looks better on my HD TV than the PS2/XBOX versions, though I am kind of disappointed they didn't do a complete graphical over hall like SF2HDRemix. I can't wait to be able to play online with the the full cast of characters.

I didnt see the demo, I'll look harder. The achievements are whack, check out 360achievements.org for the list, hope you only play online............
-
I don't know which system you have but for now the demo is only on the PS3.
-
I have them all unfortunately. I really only play my 360 much, not a whole lot on the PS3 I like and the Wii was more for the GF then me and once I got her a 360, she gave me back to Wii, lol
-
I'm glad they are releasing this, as it hopefully paths the way for Capcom Vs. SNK 2!
