Title: 2 player Cruis'n USA
Post by: Popcorrin on July 02, 2003, 02:04:02 pm
Does anyone know if it is possible or will be possible to play 2 player on the Cruis'n series.  Of course you would need to have 2 systems connected.  I know that you can connect mame over a network currently using Kaillera but as far as I know no one has done this to play Cruis'n.

I thought it would be wild to hook up a couple of cabinets ,that is once the hardware is fast enough, and do some all out racing against your buddies.

I believe it would have to be some kind of hack to the rom.  It is possible, though, so keep a lookout.

Would the rom already be capable of this since 2 player was possible in the arcade?

I use KIAME for runing KI and I got it running full speed on a PIII @ 866MHz with 128MB of ram. If it's only a lil glitchy you may wanna try using fastmame.

it would only be possible (at least currently) with killera mame.  Considering how glitchy killera is my guess is you'd be better off just playing 1 player.

If I'm not mistaken, the orginal cab has to be linked up with others for the mulitple play option. (for simultainous play.)

This wouldn't necesarily be what Kaillera does.

I would think that MAME would need to emulate that component of the linking hadware interface along with a simluated way to let 2 independent PCs link up and comunicate through it as each PC runs its own version of the game.

Each player has its own view, etc, which differs from Kaillera putting each player in the same place and the same time, with the same view.

My 2 cents.
