So right now I have windows starting and having Mala start with windows, but I have a couple problems.
1) my wireless adapter pops up a window when XP starts to show its connected and it puts this right over Mala.
2) The little popup notifications regarding wireless networks and whatnot keep popping up sporadically in the bottom right and overlay over Mala as well losing focus.
I tried making Mala my shell and this works great, but I still need access to all my windows stuff in the background for various reasons.
So either
a) I need to find a way to make the stuff stop popping up over Mala
b) I need a way to run windos when Mala is shell
I'm lost and a little bit inexperienced with this.
Any help?

You could disable your wireless card until you need it. That would stop the window from popping up. You don't need the wireless card running while your using your arcade do you?

Or you could use a program like Startup Delayer (http://www.r2.com.au/software.php?page=2&show=startdelay). You can set it up so Mala starts a few seconds after the window pops up.

You can't configure your wireless card not to pop up messages? I would expect that you could. And if you make mala the shell, you can always run windows by hitting ctrl-alt-delete to bring up task manager, then run explorer.exe (this is what I do).

You could also try adding a delay to mala starting by increasing the splash time to 7000ms or more.

Have you tried " TweakUI " for XP ? I believe you disable the pop ups with it .

Thanks all. This gives me some options. I'll try them out and let you know how they work.

Also , check the WIKI . There is a section on hiding windows and it tells you how to manually stop the pop ups .

Combination of TweakUI and disabling autostart up on the network monitor did it.
Thanks all.
