Title: Cost of a light gun set-up?

and if it's worth putting into a cabinet

IN that situation, you'd meerly need to split the S-video into a composite adaptor and let that go into the Guncon's video jacks. Guncons go for $10-$20 used.

There are two posters here that have made it work with TV's using the TV's own TV out. There are no documented success stories with arcade monitors that I can find.

I tried everything. The best I ever got was mediocre tracking and only on games with light backgrounds. I'm using topguns now which I think is the best on the market currently but by no means perfect. Others have had luck with ACT light guns but there are some who have not.

I have a Guncon limited edition from years back but, it has PS One connector and a couple of rca jacks. Would that be possible to get it setup somehow?

I also have the proper Red/Blue Happ guns that came with my machine although are not connected right now. Any luck with these running under Mame with a TV screen?

Not yet, but this could be promising (http://www.nanotechent.com/opti-gun.php).

Haven't heard anything in a while though.

:O Do you mean the LE Elemental Gearbolt gold plated Guncon that only 50 were ever produced and only 3 known copies exist?

Cause if so, that's worth a BIT of money and you might not wanna be up and jury rigging it to an arcade rig. That's the only LE Guncon I know of. :)

Anyway, no, to my knowledge there is no adaptor or driver for the Guncon 1 to make it work on a PC, not that you probably couldn't build one, it'd be a LOT of work. The Guncon 2 for PS2 on the other hand is already USB based so they only needed to make a PC driver for it and voila.
