Apologies if this has been asked before, but has anyone came up with a way to have it so the PC/Frontend/whatever will automatically record a short clip while playing a game that you don't already have a video for?
I know it's a longshot and sounds too good to be true, but the awesomeness of the people on these forums amaze me, I'm sure anythings possible at this point ;D

wouldn't it be even easier to just download all the movies you're missing from emumovies.com?
then you can get them while you're sleeping!

But what about games that EmuMovies doesn't have or aren't of that great a quality??? For instance... the vector game movies look very dark and are hard to see. Also, what about clones that aren't exactly like the parent - Beastie Feastie for instance (clone of Super Glob). I'd love to be able to create my own videos if possible. I paid for an EmuMovies account, so I know Beastie Feastie isn't there. Neither is Up 'N Down.

I actually found software that works pretty well on my system... AviScreen (http://www.bobyte.com/AviScreen/index.asp) does the trick nicely. It's shareware though with a 30 day full trial - enough if you only need to do a few games or if you work fast. If you don't care about having sound in the recorded video, AVIScreen Classic (http://download.cnet.com/AviScreen-Classic/3000-13633_4-10394588.html) offers much of the same without sound and is freeware.
The video codecs aren't the best - so you may want to get something to convert them to something a little smaller in size. I haven't tried it on a PC as of yet (as I am a Mac user for the most part) - but I know MPEG StreamClip (http://www.squared5.com/) is great stuff!
