Title: Using trackball for light gun games (Police Trainer)
Post by: cmoses on March 24, 2009, 11:33:07 pm
I thought I had seen on here a way to use the trackball in light gun games, but when searching for the information I am not finding it.  I know you have to turn on mouse control, but do not seem to be getting any cross hairs showing in the game.

The game I am trying this on is Police Trainer, but I would imagine that it would be similar on any light gun type game.  Any information would be helpful.

You have to toggle the crosshairs on or off (I think with f1 by default) on older versions of mame.
Also need to set up the analog settings by hitting TAB (x axis and y axis).

I compiled mame .128 and in that version you can edit the .ini to have crosshairs enabled or not.

Edit the ini for that individual game?  Do you know what needs to be edited?

sorry, I meant mame.ini

There's a line down toward the bottom ... something like "crosshairs 0" <-- you'd want to chane that to "1"
