Just got some TV-games that died on me (buttons), so I thought lets hack them into a coffee table with decent buttons:

Did you seriously take time to draw a crap sketch of that complete idiot idea?
-
I like them Blanka.
It would be nice if they could rotate out of the way so the table is flush for normal use. Obviously you would have to build a box on the back and pivot it in a way so that the botom of the box is flat with the table once rotated.
Cools all the same

I should have made the picture with cups of coffee on top too. There's no problem having a stick between your coffees. And remember, it's a hack of a 10 euro IKEA table. This is definitely not about woodworking skills :D and options with movable parts.
A Ikea LACK table is dead boring. Jakks TV games go dead on the buttons after 2 hours of playing, so I thought, make the ikea table cool with a dead toy and some real joysticks.
-
I think its awesome! Whenever I'm at Ikea I'm always trying to imagine how I could drill some holes to get something cool out of it too!
@wooowman93 : Go stuff it. Some of the people on this forum actually create things, not just criticize others :timebomb:

I like the white table too, its art! , hmm, *scratches chin* this just might be even more innovative than you realise ;D

I thought I recognized those as IKEA tables. The sense of scale is strange since I think of the TV being smaller than it actually is.
But yeah, there's plenty of space on those tables to tack on a bunch of buttons and still have room for your coffee and magazines. If you click on the link, you would see just how big these tables really are.
Personally, I don't like it. Nothing against Blanka, how he did it, why he did it or even the idea of joysticks and buttons on a table. It's only because I'm not a big fan of IKEA furniture. Only reason I have one of these tables is my GF.
Blanka: What's up with the extra button on the black table? The white looks like it's an arcade emulator so it's 2 + coin but the black looks like it's running genesis games so 3+start+???
-
The genesis toy has a start and reset/menu button. You need it to get to the menu with the 6 games.

dude...there's a cheapo-mini table I could get at wal-mart for $25, drill the holes, mount the hacked pcb underneath in a project box, cover the top with a nice plexi or something. (add a cup holder or something as well).
You've got a sweet-ass multi-use table.
I am gonna have to make one now. Damn you for putting that idea into my head.
also...I don't think wooowman meant you were an idiot. he probably just really sucks at basic grammar and meant that the problem was an idiot would put something on top and potentially ruin the table. I won't speak for him though. lol
