Title: Can Xpadder or Joy2Key be used with a steering wheel?
Post by: mikeveli20 on February 24, 2009, 03:27:40 pm
Just as the title says, I'd like to use a steering wheel for some dreamcast games in nullDC. I figured since controllers have an analog joystick, that might be same as the wheel since you can obviously play driving games on the console itself with the gamepad.

EDIT: I was able to answer my own question. It works pretty good using Xpadder with nullDC. Just tested it on Crazy Taxi. Does anyone know how I can decrease the sensitivity of the wheel? I played around with the joystick deadzone but that only really delays the strong movements. So instead of being too sensitive at 1% deadzone, there's no movement until say 10% deadzone, but then at 11% it's too sensitive.

Does nullDC not support analog inputs natively then?

If you are mapping left/right on the wheel to the DC's d-pad (or analog stick if nullDC supports this only 'digitally') then the behaviour you describe makes sense because even a fraction of a turn will translate to flat out in the DC game. With a pad you tend to tap the directions to get somewhere between nothing and flat out. With a wheel I imagine this isn't much fun trying to do...

All this could be moot if Xpadder can send pulses of the direction, altering the frequency depending on how far you turn the wheel. I'm not familiar with Xpadder so I don't know if this is possible...

nullDC does support analog I believe, but last time I tried it with my wheel it was a bit temperamental so I'm trying some other alternatives.

All this could be moot if Xpadder can send pulses of the direction, altering the frequency depending on how far you turn the wheel. I'm not familiar with Xpadder so I don't know if this is possible...

I haven't seen anything like this so far, but if there is I guess that would help solve the problem.

Any news?

Anyone tried again?

I don't be able to set my Logitech G25 to play on Epsxe and NullDc.

Joytokey and Xpadder simulate a keyboard,i don't know how to set a analogic wheel.

Anyone knows how can i do?

Thanks a lot

while im against bringing back threads from the grave yard, you can map your steering wheel with nulldc using the purupuru controller plugin. same thing with epxse and nagcon plugin. I recommend you check out  driving and racing subforum
