Title: Gyration wireless mouse.
Post by: Generic Eric on June 25, 2003, 07:08:12 pm
Remember the wireless remote style mouse from gyration? (http://www.gyration.com/) I ended up getting one today.  My wife had made the comment that we needed a new keyboard.  I had popped of the windows keys for MAME and she didn't like that.  It had some cigarette burns on it too.  Anyway, I saw the gyration keyboard mouse combo at best buy.  I guess her conseccession (sp?) was that we'd get a wireless combo as long as we got something new.

So the reason I am posting is just to tell you about it.  Both the keyboard and mouse are cordless.  The mouse is like a presentation style pointer device.  I am sure it is going to work great for a jukebox application, but I don't have one of those just yet(jukebox I mean.)

I did try it with MAME.  T2 was my test.  It was ok I suppose.  The thing is that it works up to 25' away, so you aren't going to get pinpoint accuracy.  On the other hand, I have yet to play with any of the settings.

All in all, it is a neat little gadget.  It is more suited to a Jukebox, but not really for  Mame I think.

Were you playing T2 with the mouse in the air or on the desk? On the desk its an optical mouse and shouldn't have any accuracy problems. I'm using one on my HTPC, just as accurate on the couch as the Intellimouse is on the desk.

In the air

I had the reciever in the wrong place until this am.  So that may have been my problem too.

I like it.

eh...I dunno

possibly.

the big Con is
Price.  I don't know how much the seperate mouse it costs, I bought (&only saw the combo.)  The combo I paid was $80 after rebate.  There is a seperate keyboard too.

minor con
still only single player
