Title: DK & ArcadeVGA...anyone?
Post by: Frostillicus on June 24, 2003, 08:10:01 pm
Has anyone ran into problems with this combination?

setup:
d9200, amd 2500, arcadevga, winxp pro (fairly new though updated through windows update).

My problem is that when DK starts up at 800x600 the screen just goes blank.  I don't get any errors, basically it runs fine without displaying the main screen - the games can start fine(i have no idea which one until it does tho  :P )  and DK exits ok.

Anyway it's a fresh install of XP Pro, so I guess I might have mussed something up by not installing the VB and scripts and stuff correctly.  Would that have anything to do with the display?  I tried a few times.

The weird thing is that the config menu opens ok within DK, but not the game select menu itself.  The intro movie works ok, too.

I've tried changing the amount of hardware acceleration of the card, but to no avail.  Also I've changed the frontend.ini to partial instead of the full hardware or software.  The arcadeVGA looks so sweet with the d9200 (i tested with command line dos stuff - still amazes me how awesome it looks), and I would like to keep DK now that I have a skin for it that matches my cab.

Thanks for any help... :)  Hoping this is just a stupid thing on my part...

just a shot in the dark...  you have the AVGA utils for the 9200 monitor right?  IT's not like it's trying to do an interlace mode for DK and that's causing DK to be pissed is it?

Also aren't there a few different rendering settings in DK regarding transparencies you can try?

Hope that sparks something that somehow vaguelly helps, frosty...

Ok i'm stupid- I thought I tried using just software rendering for DK but I guess not.  I typed in 32 and bingo it ran great.

Thanks though Rampy  :)
