Title: SW Clock
Post by: FrizzleFried on January 16, 2009, 07:40:54 pm
I was bored the other day... and I had one last el-cheapo WalMart clock still sitting in the closet so I figured "what the hell" and decided to put together a Star Wars clock to go over in the corner with the cockpit.  The first face I made I used the flyer,  but the logo being where it is on the flyer,  I had to blow up the cabinet images to where the logo wouldn't appear otherwise you're left with a partial logo on the face.  Not good.  This is how it turned out:

Not bad...but I figured I could do better.  I then tried the cockpit marquee...which turned out to be a better fit.  I would have rather used a black or dark blue clock,  but white is what I had.  I painted the black hands white as well and overall I think it came out decent enough...

I would easily drop 25 bucks for one of those if I had a SW cab...or 25 bucks...

In other words, awesome!

I won't comment on this remark but the clock looks cool.

That is awesome, if I saw it without knowing beforehand, I'd swear you bought it like that.
I'll have to remember that and try it myself with something. :applaud:

Laminate it and it'd look like a retail item. Hint, hint.

Frizz,

Do you include the numbers on the printed-out artwork or are those numbers on a seperate layer or something ?

Thanks...

I scanned the original face... I then scanned the flyer/marquee/whatever.  I then add the face to the artwork...throw in some effects (glow,  beveled edges, etc) and there ya go...

Digging up old thread. I need to do two clocks for my son and his best friend.

Now, the original clock I have here has nu numbers on it so scanning it is a bit pointless (kids really need the numbers).

Not sure, but that size of the clock seems to be more ore less the same, could you send me the file of the scanned original face (and I wouldn't mind that finished SW marquee version either ;)

PM with e-mail address sent...
