Hello all,
I would like to know of any video only redemption games that are "out in the field", more so if any of these have been ported to Mame.
I recently discovered that Mame DOES offer the option to be hooked up to a ticket dispenser and certain games take advantage of this.
The games that I already of are:
Capcom Bowling
Wheel of Fortune
Ameri-Darts
Chicken Farm
However, I would like to know what other video only redemption games are out there.
Thank You,
Geo

chucky cheese memory match game / flintstones memory match game ?
-
hmmmf
ICE has a lot of these..
Dino Dash
Zoofari
Fishin Time
Tuxedo Racer
Deal or No Deal
Frantic Fred
Buster Bubbles
Sponge Bob Bikini Bottom Bowling
...just trying to think about what we have in my companies stores..

I actually played Zoofari with my son at an arcade and it's a fun game. Very easy and so lots of tickets for the little fellow ;)
-
What do you mean by video-only?
-
I asume not any mechanical games.
-
Double Cheese!
-
That games attract sounds are the most annoying thing ever..and can't be turned off!
-
Paint 'N' Puzzle
But I don't believe it's correctly emulated yet.
(at least not the last time I tried it)
-
Coastal Amusements had a touch screen coloring book.

What do you mean by video-only?
Redemption games that only use a video screen and a control interface (panel). In other words, nothing mechanical or game specific plastic parts.
In simpler terms a "video (only) game" that spews tickets. I asume not any mechanical games.
As I said to Ummon above, that is correct. Video only. The only thing mechanical would be the ticket dispenser/coin mech.

Yes, I have seen these, and played them via Mame as well.

I have played the "Fishing Game" before at a Dave & Busters. But I am not too familiar with the others. I am mostly looking at games I can set up to play via MAME. I looked on the MAWS website and all of the games above are not emulated yet
Double Cheese!
.
Yes, I seen/played this one at Chuck E. Cheese. It is also emulated via Mame.
Paint 'N' Puzzle

Yes, I looked it up in MAWS and it is in the preliminary stages and it is a WIP.
I do have to add one that I found on my own in MAWS:
Neck-N-Neck, which is a horse racing type game. It is emulated and I tried it out. Good game!
I been looking through the MAWS list year by year page by page (daunting task, I know), and there doesn't seem to be much...at least much that has been emulated for Mame. I got up to 1995 though. However, I am finding that most games (regular video games) start to have stuttering audio on my machine. I guess I need a "bigger boat" (more powerful computer).
Anyway, thanx for the input guys!

I have not seen these on location yet. Certainly it is not on the Mame list to try out. Maybe it will get emulated in the future.
Thanx,

I've never seen another game get so much play in a resort setting as I saw a GIANT HD screened DOND at a very large campground resort. There were lines for kids to play this game. I played it a few times and it is fun, but kinda easy. It has really nice visuals though. I doubt we will be seeing this in MAME within the next couple years.

I just looked up the game on the web. THAT is certainly not something that can be set up via Mame. I have not seen the game before either. However, they have something similar at Dave & Busters. They have a trivia style game that 6 or 8 people sit in a semi-circular fashion on a stool much like that of DOND. A large flat screen TV sits on the wall opposite the semi-circle and everyone can view the TV. You have 3 large buttons in front of you and video screen spits out various trivia questions. If you think you know the right answer, you hit one of the three buttons ala "Family Feud" style to be the fastest with the correct answer. I believe if you guessed correct first, you get the most tickets and the others that guess correctly get some tickets. You guess incorrectly and you get nil.
The cool thing about the game is the overall experience as you feel like you are a game show contestant. Not only are you sitting on a stool, but like the DOND game, you are also on a raised platform.
I would by DYING to have a game like this in my game room. I am pretty sure it cost a fortune though. I remember how much Hyperbowl cost me!
EDIT:
I found the game just by a quick web search.
Here it is: Super Trivia!

you can see Deal or No Deal (and some of the games I listed) at most Chuck E. Cheese's. (I'm a technician for them haha)

The local arcade tried to sell their slightly smaller version of DOND for $8K last year. The tech who posted before me would prolly know the arcade cost though. I bet its still around 6K...

Hmmm, been to two CEC's in my area and I have not seen that game there. I wouldn't be surprised if it is at Dave & Busters by now. However, if you ask me it looks like Super Trivia is more elaborate. I don't know if they have it by the D&B by me as I have not been there in a while, but I went out of town to a D&B that was a former Jillians. They had the Super Trivia.

Hyperbowl was over $20k originally (for the top of the line package). Since I supplied most of the stuff myself (seats, computer, etc), I managed to put a Hyperbowl together for around $1000.
I certainly wouldn't be spending anyone's $6 for a single machine.

Ripper Ribbit (in MAME too)

My former full time and now part time job is for a redemption manufacturer, I did a few D&B installs this past year and haven't seen DOND at any of the SEPA locations. They might have just not picked it up. I've always thought they had a weird selection of games..
-
dond is everywhere in the UK arcades, one I know of has 3 redemption and god knows how many fruit machines that are based on dond (literally a full 40 ft container full)

Ripper Ribbit (in MAME too)
Heh Heh...this one is a pretty cool game. Thanx for the tip off!

Lazertron made some video-only ticket redemption games:
Hoppin' Harry
Chip Away
Slugger's Alley
Slide Master
Prize Bowl
A few of these games I've sent to Aaron Giles for inclusion in MAME. They run on PC architecture (AMD P-75 with 8 megs of ram running on DOS). They have a 3 1/2" boot disk that boots to a program CD. Each game has a security dongle that plugs into the parallel port. I don't know the status of their emulation, though.

Thanx for the info. It is nice to know that these games could run off of a regular PC. It seems like they don't need much power anyway. Would be cool to get a hold of the original games. A while back I wanted to get a hyperbowl machine second hand for my game room because my wife and I loved the game so much. As it turned out, I found out that the game uses a Windows 98SE based P4 computer. So I was able to buy the program and I set it up on a dedicated machine myself.
Since the system requirements are low for those games, it would be cool to put a few on one machine (if possible). I know something like this could be done with the Jamma hardware based video games. They had a board that had anywhere from 3 to 10 slots on it and you plugged all your Jamma game boards into it. Then when you turn the machine on, you are directed to a special start up screen which allows you to select a game...much like a Mame front end would do.

I recently bought an old Slide Master at a flea market. I modified the cabinet and mounted a tankstick for MAME. I have the Slide Master PC and the dongle sitting here.

lotto 1 and 2 in mame
-
Carnival King, Bonk's Adventure, and The Irem Skins Game has a ticket dispenser that can be turned on ;)
-
Tickee Tickats(1994, SEGA) , Ghost Hunter(1996, Hanaho) and Tut's Tomb (1996, Island Design) are lightgun games that dispense tickets :) ;D
-
Redemption games are the devil. A curse on any adult who plays them.
Oh great fun. Spend an hour and a half accumulating a pile of tickets that cost you 50 bucks. Trade that in for a spider ring and a Sponge Bob pencil topper. :applaud:
-
Andamiro's Hammer and Capcom's X the Ball are more games i found on Mame, and they are good :)
-
Reel N Quake has a dipswitch setting to make it a redemption game :D
