Title: Original xBox Question
Post by: Slope on November 29, 2008, 03:12:05 am
I have an original xBox which I had hardware modded so I could load my games on it (I have 125 games...yes, I bought them) and Mame.  Mame works for the games that I want to play and for the most part the modded xBox rocks.

I got all my games to load from the hdd fine, but whan I tried to copy the game Greg Hastings Paintball Max'd from DVD to the hdd (I just bought it from Game Stop for like $7.00) but it doesn't work.  It just gives a blank screen and freezes the xBox.  I have done some research and it appears (back in the day) there was a patch to get this to work for this specific game.  I have check all my usual places but am unable to find my solution.

Can someone PM me some help please??

Sorry if this post isn't okay, delete it if needed...I thought I was okay since I do actually own everything (okay, not Mame but that's working  :) )

Thanks in advance.

Get the latest "DVD2XBOX" via whatever means you've found easiest.  Personally, I like XBINS via "Auto Xbins".  Just toss the DVD2XBOX on their via FTP, thumbdrive or whatever and you'll be good to go.

Whats so unbelievable about that? games for the original XBOX can go for as little as  $.50-$10 now.
I bought over 90 XBOX360 games at about $60 a pop for the most part, not including Fallout3 special Edition at 80, MKvsDC KE for $70 and Fable II LE at $70, Guitar Hero 2 was like 90 I think, and GH3 was 90 as well and Rockband for like $160 (and the tons of moola spend on GH2, GH3, and RB DLCs) AND Xbox live arcade.

and yes I'd be more then happy to open the cases and pictures to show you the legit disc inside the case. And yes I still play Sega  Dreamcast and Sega Saturn.

same thing goes for my DVD, HD DVD and BluRay collection
(http://c1.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images02/23/l_1feeb1a3ee5f45688b27ae150d25a584.jpg)

back on topic, you need the latest XBOX2DVD and that game kinda sucks. its like a FPS without real guns.

I know a few guys who have more of them than that.  I have at least 300 NES games... almost the whole N64 and Saturn libraries... yes, console collectors are this insane.

sell/give me your saturn library. I have mostly imports and I'm tired of the Pro Action replay menu heh.

I dont really consider my self a collector, I keep em as long as I play em. Its a crime to have em in a cardboard box in the basement ;)

There is no way you play 125 Xbox games, bro.  Half of those have to be in the "not played in a longass time" category.

I never said I had 125 XBOX games, I said I have about 90 XBOX360 games. according to my XBOXlive profile the longest its been since I played a game was

Call of Duty 2

So almost 3 years on that one, but come on I have COD4!

Call of Duty 4

Ok bad example! Once I got a job with normal hours, I stared playing games alot less

How exactly does a noob (Me) put DVD2Xbox onto a soft-modded Xbox?  Thanks.

If I had "bought" 125 games then I would not need a modded xbox nor be asking about how to backup an unknown game disc for it. Just sayin' ....

As someone who pirates games, then goes and buys them when I like them, I fail to see your logic.

Actually there are plenty of good reasons for modding an Xbox, even if you're one of those weird people who actually buys games ;D. For example:

- the convenience of being able to run games from the hard disk.

- Being able to use the Xbox as a cheap media PC by installing XBMC or equivalent.

- The ability to run Linux.

- The ability to run emulators such as MAME.

- Patching the BIOS to enable the Xbox to output VGA with a cheap home made converter.

If you mod the XBOX you can put a larger hard drive in it and put the games on the HD. The hard drive loads games much faster then discs and if the games are on the HD you dont need to change discs to play a different game. As evident above, I do buy games, I had about 85 games for XBOX, and I modded it, and I put a bigger HD in it and I played games off the HD, I didnt pirate any games on XBOX unless you include MAME, SNES, and genesis EMUs but I could play them on my computer I just liked playing them on my TV with an XBOX controller better. Oh and I downloaded the Beta of Juiced when it looked like it wasnt going to be released, I later bought the retail version but played the beta because it was better.

There are no quotation marks anywhere I BOUGHT the games, retail new and used, and traded retail new and used. I didnt buy bootlegs and I didnt burn them. You act like having 125 retail games for a system is beyond the realm of possibility, stop trying to bust this guys balls.  Im not sayin his games ARE legit, Im saying "give him the benefit of the doubt"

You know, no two pirates are the same.

As for what I said about pirating, then buying them...I have an example from today. I bought a brand new "Greatest Hits" Shadow of the Colossus today for $19.99, a game I'd already beaten on a copy. I enjoyed it so much, I had to buy it. Not the first time I've done it and it certainly won't be the last. I mostly pirate games that aren't worth buying. The ones worth paying my hard earned money for, I buy.

stop trying to bust this guys balls.

Bustin' mine as well. Off to a great start with only three posts...

My two cents....

When I read the post where he said "bought" 125 games, I interpreted the "bought" as him being tongue in cheek and that he meant if he had really pirated them, then he wouldn't need the instructions as a pirate with 125 games would already know how to mod/play with the hard drive on an Xbox.

Maybe me taking today off from being cynical isn't allowing me to read it correctly though.   ???

I have a modded Xbox running XBMC and I've yet to walk into a video place and rent a Xbox game to rip it to my drive, which would be simple.

Not everybody who runs an Xbox modded is a pirate.

Exactly. My friend has a modded Xbox and all he uses it for is XBMC. I asked if he'd ever tried a burned game yet and he said he didn't even know how.

OP didn't say "bought" in fact he stated he bought them to avoid the piracy talk

lucca assumes modded XBOX=pirate and thats not the case. I thought that if he pirated 125 games he wouldn't be asking how to patch the game, because he'd know how to already.

Ah, I didn't look at the names and failed to see that Slope (the OP) wasn't the one replying.   :banghead:

My new two cents, lucca should stfu and Slope is good to go.  I'm sure that's the ringing endorsement that the OP has been waiting for.   :P

Slope, did you ever get the info you needed?

I have 3 modded xboxes and a legitimate library of 147 games.

One of them is in an arcade cab, and has an 80GB hard drive. The games I play on the arcade machine are stored on the drive.

One is my son's, with a 100GB hard drive, and the games he plays are stored on the hard drive, so as to not have the kids handling the discs.

My 3rd is mine with a 200GB hard drive, and I store anything I am currently playing on the hard drive as well. I won't lie, it has seen its share of "arrrrr", but like others have already mentioned I have bought many games that I felt truly deserved to be bought and plenty long after they should have been bought for cheap.

Actually the OP question is "how can I make this game I bought run from the hard drive?"
its your assumption that its about piracy, and thats not right. OP, I'll paypal you $5 to take a picture of you holding the game with a piece of paper that says "HEMI SUCKS" 2 angles needed just so he cant claim photoshopping

I did, and it was actually a pretty darn good game.

It caught a bad rap because it was a game based on a game played with "pretend" guns, and many just said, "If I want to play paintball I will just go and play", but that same stupid argument can be used for just about anything.

Also...

With the original Xbox, if you wanted to play on Xbox Live, you weren't using a copy (at least most of the generation, and even in the end it was in most cases).
