Title: Showcase Cabinet- 95% "Finished"
Post by: Tim N. on October 24, 2008, 07:01:17 pm
Cabinets are never finished, so this one will stay right around 95% finished for the moment. I still need to wire the lights to the coin door and mount my LCD topguns to each side of the CP, but for practical purposes this one is done.

 Photogallery is here: http://www.ralphwiggum.info/index.php?option=com_morfeoshow&task=view&gallery=10&Itemid=87 (http://www.ralphwiggum.info/index.php?option=com_morfeoshow&task=view&gallery=10&Itemid=87)

Machine Details are here: http://www.ralphwiggum.info/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=54:showcasemame&catid=39:mamemacines&Itemid=1 (http://www.ralphwiggum.info/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=54:showcasemame&catid=39:mamemacines&Itemid=1)

Sorry for the less than stellar description here in this thread, I just don't like to repeat stuff on the site with the same stuff here in the thread. Always looking for questions/comments, etc.... Tim

Very nice indeed.  I like the dual trackballs on the control panel.

Also like the look of your MAME mala screen, any chance you would be willing to share it?  It looks to have everything, control panel, cabinet, list, marquee, video and static pics.  Very informative and also clean.

Awesome job  :applaud:

We don't see many many (if any) really good showcase cabs like yours from what I can remember (apart from Pinballwizard79's), apologies if I'm forgetting anyone. There was also that sweet scratch built Gauntlet legends showcase thinking of it.

If I was you I would post a couple of the pictures directly into this thread. Some people (me included) can be too lazy to follow links sometimes and the arcade goodness you have created needs to be shared

Looks great!  How well do the N64, Dreamcast and PS1 emulators run?  Are they worth installing in a cab?  What do you do about saving your progress, etc. without plugging in a controller or using a mouse and keyboard?

I am not emulating DC or PSX yet, just the others mentioned- N64, SNES, etc... They run awesome.... I might even play N64 more than Mame, it is hard to say...

HERE IS THE LINK FOR MY MALA LAYOUT FILES FOR MAME.... ENJOY! (Note that I created this at 640x480...)

I really like your "Mame system check screen".  Is it possible you could post that?   I'd love to be able to use it as well.  It would stop people saying "oh it's just a computer inside?" when the windows xp thing shows up.

Sure... Here is where you can get it from (Free)- http://www.stardock.com/products/bootskin/ (http://www.stardock.com/products/bootskin/)

And for the mame skin, just type "mame" in for the skin search, there are several options to choose from....

 ;D

....And I will be starting a dual racer project that has been sitting in my basement for about two years now. It won't really be mame though, it will be all PC racing games. I already have everything for it, (except time), dual force feedback wheels, Final Lap 3 sitdown cabinet with speakers in the headrests of the seats, and two 20" LCDs to replace the current 19 inch arcade monitors.... Before I can even get to it though, I have to restore the DE batman pin that you see in the top picture next to the Visual Pinball and showcase, I have to finish touching up and then clearcoating the playfield on my wife's Class of 1812 Pinball, and I have to shop out my Demolition Man Pinball and change the neon tube in Cirqus Voltaire to a different color than what is in there now.... Look for a dual racer project announcement around 2012 :) .....

Your progress is much too slow, maybe its in your best interest to let me borrow the visual pinball machine until the racing arcade is completed. 8)
