Hi all.
This is my first post on this forum and I'll first introduce myself.
I'm Fabrice, living in Besançon (France). It's a city close to Swizterland.
I'm 35, working in computer science.
Some week ago, I bought my first arcade cabinet : an Arcade Electronic Arca2500.
It's a generic cabinet setup with 2 x 6 buttons, 25" display, euro coins selector.
This cabinet is going to be a Mamecab. I'm using an ArcadeVGA2 PCIe and a JPAC.
I setup everything as expected, closely following howtos & informations found on forums.
My cabinet is nearly working fine, but I have 1 major problem with the ArcadeVGA ; I search everywhere on forums but could not find anybody who has the same problem previously...
Here is the problem.
When I power on the PC, I have on the cabinet screen BIOS messages as expected. Then I can see WinXP starting.
At some time during WinXP starting, the screen goes black for ever. At the same time on the JPAC, lights "sync in" & "sync ok" both go off.

But if I connect an old CRT monitor who is 15 kHz-capable (Commodore 1942) and power ON the PC, everything is OK. I have BIOS messages, WinXP booting screen, and at last the desktop as expected. Then if I unplug the old CRT and connect the JPAC, I do have a good display on the arcade screen ! Switching resolution by using the Quickres-Galaga icon also works fine.
It seems that the ArcadeVGA doesn't detect the JPAC as a display and switches its display OFF when the ATI drivers load (of course I did use Ultimarc's drivers and no other driver).
But with the old CRT monitor, it can detect a display and keeps it video signal ON. Unpluging later the CRT and connected the JPAC may be OK because the display detection is already done ?
What do you think ?
I'm sure my old CRT monitor is NOT DDC-compliant (much too old).
There is a difference between this old CRT monitor and the JPAC as seen by the ArcadeVGA, but where ?
Maybe the JPAC inputs have not 75 ohms impedancy, and that's what the ATI RAMDAC is probing ?

Have you checked with Andy at ultimarc? He is very good about answering questions about his products.

This was an issue with the new HD2400 ArcadeVGA and is now fixed, so anyone else having this problem drop me an email: andy@ultimarc.com

That's a decent cab, there. What scan range is that monitor?
