1up gives it an A :o
IGN, on the other hand, gives it a 5.0.
That's a surprisingly big discrepancy.
-
Gee, wonder which website has more revenue coming in from Nintendo?
-
I would have guessed IGN, frankly.

Yeah, since they are the ones with the history of such things. (http://media.ign.com/boardfaces/20.gif)
IGN's score definitely falls in line with everything I had seen and heard previewing Wii Music.
[EDIT]
For some reason thought we were talking about IGN and Gamespot, not 1up.
Either way though... After all the previews of the game, I would definitely assume any high scores suspect.

Told ya. 1UP sux

This may seem like gender stereotyping, but believe me it's not. With that said...
The 1UP reviewer was Jennifer Tsao. Based on what I've read of her reviews in EGM, she seems slanted towards the more "casual-friendly" games as of late. Simply put, she's probably this game's target audience. Thus, the glowing review.

I would bet young kids will LOVE this game. Adults, not so much. The promo videos that showed Miyamoto and a few adult staffers playing on stage was disturbing, to say the least. If anything, it showed that this game could be a great tool for pedophiles!

Don't accept Wii Music from strangers, Sharidan. ;D
Whoppers neither. :burgerking:
-
You know if some stranger came along and offered you flame broiled beef you'd get in the van.
Me... maybe if it had bacon. And no onions. I hate onions.

You might want to run instead apparently they have a van.

BTW, what is Wii Music?
An cartridge with download service like the iTunes store with crappy WiiMote controls?
-
Can someone distill the direct HD video link from this:
http://wii.ign.com/dor/objects/827335/wii-music/videos/wii_music_vidrev_102108.html
Cannot get it to work, so I want to download directly.

I'd be curious if young kids would like this. My 6 and 4 year old daughters are too young for the other stuff but really like musical games. I may rent it to see what they think.
-
They may not be too young, not the 6 year old anyway. My 7 year old jams on Guitar Hero fairly well. He can make it most of the way through easy.

Nope. 6 year old tried Guitar Hero last night and it wasn't good. :) She may try again so we'll see...
-
I said it earlier when Wii Music was revealed, and I'll say it again - that is the silliest looking thing I've ever seen when you've got better music programs out there. For the 4-7 year old set, maybe it's ok, but I'm really disappointed that this is what we got to show off our Miis making music.
-
Judging without having played it - it seems like this would have been a better idea if it came out before Guitar Hero, Rock Band, et al. haven't completely redefined the music genre changing people's expectation in the process. I realized this when my neighbor broke out some Karaoke game last night and I found myself comparing it unfavorably to said music games.
Wii Music seems like a better implementation of the old PS2 budget title "Mad Maestro" at best. But no one's playing that game in this day and age.
