Title: jaysen's In-wall Jukebox project.
Post by: jaysen on October 09, 2008, 07:14:54 pm
Well I've been lurking on these forums for quite sometime now and thought I'd post my newest project - I will try and answer questions as they come.

Info on the components:

ELO 15" ET1525L - $50 craigslist

25ft VGA and Serial Cable from monoprice.com - $15

D945GCLF Atom board w/ 1GB memory and 320GB HD - $180

Custom AmericanFrame.com frame - $36

Total I've spent approx; $300-350 roughly including the patch work materials.

Very cool.  Any ideas on what kid of software you are going to run?

No, been reading up for hours now and have not made a decision.  Any suggestions...  I'm looking for a nice, clean, classy, professional GUI look with (obvious) touchscreen support.

Same here!  I'm undecided on my project too.  Freebox looks nice and so does Xlobby.  I also stumbled across Album Player today which looks pretty clean as well.

I've built several jukeboxes. I've been very happy with Freebox.

looks good.

Try 4AM Jukebox.  Its free and very easy to set up.  Thats what I use for my touch screen juke.

I've come to a fork in the road.  See my problem here; http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=85694.msg899018#msg899018 (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=85694.msg899018#msg899018)

Also, I've just ordered my frame from americanframe.com and not worried that my screen is recessed too much into the wall. UGHH...

UPDATE:

Sorry for the lack of updates been busy with work... Here is the semi-final product.  I had some minor issues with the frame - I ordered the wrong size, which also set me back.  I had to trim the metal chassis of the LCD so the new frame would fit perfect.  I ended up purchasing some matting board to give it a cleaner look.

The double sided sticky take worked out real well...  I am looking for ideas to paint the room - I would like to do a two-tone where the 1/3 (lower half) one color and the other 2/3 (upper) another...

The pic shows Album Player.  Although I like all the features and convenience of search/queue'ing/etc... I'm not too fond of the GUI.  But overall a great player.
