Title: Resource for downloading good quality logos?
Post by: Diewrecked on September 18, 2008, 10:30:32 am
Hi guys,

So I've managed to persuade my wife to design me some side art and a CPO for my MAME cab! :)

I've found this site, which I'm sure you all know about: http://localarcade.com/arcade_art/categories.php?cat_id=1 - I'm loving the logos and characters, it's EXACTLY what I'm looking for, however the resolution on these images is generally quite low. Is there any other resource anywhere with the same (or similar) images but scanned/uploaded at a higher resolution that you guys know of please?

Many thanks
Jon

Have you tried the vectorized images?

If localarcade is good for anything, it's excellent quality images.

Yeah I have had a good wander round the site but what I really want - the character art and game logos - is all really low res. Typical file size for the character art is about 100K or so. There's some nice homebrew MAME stuff I want to use as a base but then the stuff I want to overlay will look really poor in comparison.

www.vectormagic.com - Take an image and vectorize it.

Do you have an example of something you consider low rez on there?

Sure - something like the Joust logo http://localarcade.com/arcade_art/details.php?image_id=84 which is 103K, you can see the blotchiness the colour.

Thanks GinsuVictim

I can't view it at work, since it's an AI file, but it's an AI file, so I can't see what would be wrong with it. You can increase the size infinitely, and fixing any color problems should be simple (it's all solids).

I'll check it out properly tonight and come back GinsuVictim - I'm in the same position! :)

Thanks for your help so far (again!) buddy - I'll give you a shout tomorrow.

Cheers

Sorry guys I completely missed the point of that site! I've never used Illustrator before, I saw the rendering on the JPG of that logo and thought the resolution would suck on a 100K file .. turns out of course it's completely resizable and absolutely usable.

Ummmm, should I just delete this thread? Yeah, lets do that :)

Cheers guys.

Nope. Allow others to learn from your mistake.
