Looks like there's a good chance that Ike is gonna hit us hard. They're talking about a category 4 when it hits land. We'll see. Gotta go to the store tomorrow and stock up on canned foods and such. It'll be a pain. Probably stand in line forever.

Meh . . . what's the worst that could happen? ;D
-
If you die, can I have your cabs?
BTW, I do find it odd that you live in Fla. and dont have a hurricane preparedness kit. Esp why you feel it necissary to wait until NOW to get canned foods and such, when you should have gotten them in June; knowing that they would be potentially needed.
I live in an area that doesnt have scheduled weekly natural disasters and even I have a generator and a preparedness kit for emergencies. (IE water bottles, canned food and MREs etc) the only thing my E kit is missing is a good Kero heater since Maine does get really cold in winter. I will be getting one soon (before the cold hits).
Edit: The big part of that is "BEFORE", as in my getting a KERO heater well before the cold hits, as opposed to say 2 days before...

I addressed all that in my previous post.

That you werent going to do anything? (Other than wait in a line for canned goods?)
BTW: You didnt answer my primary question: When you die in this storm (or for any other reason) can I have your cabs?

No no no . . . my previous post was:

;D
And if I die in this storm, it most likely means that my cab was completely submerged in seawater. Something tells me you'll never show up to haul the thing out.
-
Well it could still change. I mean, these things change direction nearly every single hour. Hannah was supposed to already be hitting where I am (SE, Conecticut) and be out by the end of the day. It changed direction a TINY bit and has slowed down. Thankfully, it doesn't look like it will be horrific but the slight change in direction means that I'll probably be on the eastern side of the storm which is the bad side. Need to look out for the occasional Tornado as that will probably cause more damange than the Tropical Storm itself. I just hope that it doesn't stall and I only get about four inches of rain instead of seven or eight.

Ike could put you Beyond Thunderdome.
-
Well, here in the Northeast I'm no longer worried about Hannah. The storm appears to be rapidly moving and now far more to the northeast than before. There's a very good chance this will be no more severe than a summer thunderstorm for me.
-
Now it's looking like it'll just miss us. Again. We'll see. :)
-
It's raining pretty effin hard here right now. Looks like it's going to get worse before it gets better but worst we'll face is some flooding in the usual areas and maybe some power outages.
-
The rain has stopped here in the SE of Connecticut. Hannah moved through in a path that brought the worst of the rain elsewhere for me. I don't think there will be any flooding in my basement. I'll have to check on it over the next few days. I only lost power for a breif second (Enough to reset my clocks) but that was it. Heard one loud THUD on my roof, so tomorrow I'll have to check and see what it was. It might have just been some junk as I didn't hear a tree snap or anything. So that's good.
For you shmokes, I hope Ike does hit Cuba and weaken SIGNIFICANTLY and doesn't touch Miami.

I'm right in the middle of where Ike is heading now.
-
Holy crap, my prayers are definitely with those on the coast down there. They were saying on the radio that 20' swells and 50' waves are quite possible. Ike is gonna take a huge dump on a rather large swath of the US.

This site might be useful to folks on the coast:

I lucked out. I wish the best to anyone in Ike's path (even if you are from Texas ;) )
