A Final Blow indeed !

Jeebus are those all in the same guy's basement?
-
It's from an arcade in Grand Beach, Manitoba . I think it is the official Hellcade.
Here is more. Brace yourself...it's not pretty

Holy Hell! Whoever converted those cabinets is just looking for ways to ensure short playtime. I can't even begin to imagine how long anyone can play the Double Dragon/Star Wars cab with those joysticks that close together and at that angle. :dizzy:
-
Hey I have some of that same wood panel in part of my basement. It's in a pile under my stairs from the previous owners.
Are you saying that's a commercial arcade?
-
JeeEEeeeEezzz! Some of those are real mind bogglers. Star Wars to Hang On? Star Trek to Space Invaders? What a weird backward conversion that is.
Anyone notice that Super Qix has "teh R@R3" Lock n Chase bezel and control panel?
-
I think it is the official Hellcade.
Exactly what I was going to say.
-
I don't see these games listed on the KLOV site:
Star Dragon
Arkatron
Final Tron
Robofender
Crime Kick
Wonder Gorf
Bottom of the Pede
Tetris Slayer
Star Invaders
Mortal Quantum
Track n Roids
Hang Wars
-
It appears the Space Invaders has Galaga on it, though. I think the worst one is that Final Blow/Tron mutation.

The poor TRON's!
You dirty Mother
How could you !
-
Wonder Gorf
make that a wonder gorf with a dash of tron for good measure (can YOU find the abomination)
-
I live an hour away from Grand Beach. I may have to go up there to beat the owner. And take a Tron home or something. 8)

At least a lot of them look easily restoreable. Looked like Centipede and a few others had art intact. Although someone who would go through the trouble of converting all these same several times over will probably keep doing so, possibly destroying something in the process.
-
A lot of these are more than likely Fakes. (Photoshop)
More than likely made to T' off people just for the fun of it.

We can only hope youre right...

The amount of seperate art on those cabinets is just plain confusing. The centipede cabinet with dodgeball monitor bezel and bottom of the ninth marquee and control panel is my favorite.
-
From my personal collection: ($10 apiece when nobody wanted the things at an auction)
The early days, pre restoration.(still in progress)
Asteroid Fighter Deluxe:
Some sort of weird plastic panelling glued to the original sides
Galaxia Whiz:
It was a galaxian.. still has the original burn in. At least it is restorable.
(yes, it is going back to something original, Galaxian fans.. )
I took great pleasure in removing the z80s from that thing for use in me Galaga.
They are much better now, but still a bit ugly. The AD is black now.
..and Centipede Fighter 2:
No, that's not permanent.. I was just having fun when I realized the panels would swap out.
(Centipede had a wood-grain CPO.. and the sides were painted black.. but it was free.
it's going back together as a proper one, having collected all the parts short of the art and start buttons,
and I found a (artless)bezel for it since the picture was taken.)
2 out of the 3 will be going back to something resembling the original.
-
Not to scare you people, but my personal history in Northern Ontario Canada, had a lot of the same sort of hellish mods.... but the "nice" looking ones, were when they took the wood panel looking wallpaper and covered up the side art.
People who live out in the sticks, don't usually get a nice Tron cab until it's been through a heckuva lot of auctions....
-
Quantum converted to Mortal Kombat? Isn't Quantum worth a lot of money, like two or three thousand dollars?
-
Not that much in this economy but yeah it's a pricey vector all right.
-
You gotta hand it to those operators, converting and ruining cabs for the sake of making money since arcade machine were invented.
