Title: Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog
Post by: AtomSmasher on July 19, 2008, 03:42:35 am
Pure awesome.
http://www.drhorrible.com/

As penny arcade put it, "It's a supervillain musical written by Joss Whedon, starring a bunch of awesome ---maternal-smurfs---."

It will only be available for free until midnight Sunday July 20th, so act fast.

Very excellent, but very sad.  But what do I expect from Joss?

We watched this over the weekend and LOVED it. The ending was definitely unexpected. Without a doubt, I will be buying a copy of the DVD to complete our Joss Whedon Collection.

The sad part about this was that seeing Nathan Fillion dishing Joss Whedon lines again made me miss Firefly even more.

Also of note was that at Comic-Con, there was a Dr. Horrible panel. It was stated from the horses mouth that there will most likely be more Dr. Horrible online work.  :applaud:

I saw Joss Whedon's name in the credits of an 80's sitcom. Like Cosby show or Roseanne. What's up with that?  :D

He was the head-writer for Roseanne for a few years.

The place I see Joss Whedon's name that never ceases to surprise me is during the opening credits of Toy Story.  I only realized within a year or so ago that he wrote that.

I bet there will be a crap load of extras on the DVD.

I just got an email announcement from DrHorrible.com and it looks like it has two commentaries (one is done as a musical), a making of, and ELE applications.

Here's the announcement straight from the horses mouth (Joss Whedon)
Quote
Well, my turkey (or, in some cases, tofurkey) stuffed friends, we literally just put the finishing touches on the disc. Is it worth fifteen hard-earned dollars? Absolutely. In fact, I can say without reservation that the Dr. Horrible DVD is worth $15.23 EASILY. More, if your dollars weren't the hard-earned kind, just the kind you have lying around in your mom's purse. God knows WE'VE worked hard to earn 'em. "Commentary! The Musical" is the most painstaking and exhausting piece of whimsey I have ever mistaken for a good idea. It has nearly twice as much music as Dr. Horrible itself -- since you can't really talk that much during a commentary musical or it sounds like a regular commentary. (Which we also have, with the stars and writers, plus making-of's, ELE applications, and a few items left lying around by a notorious Bunny...) I can say without hesitation that I hesitate to say it's great. And by great I mean ridiculous. It's sophmoric, solopsistic, silly and the most fun I've had being exhausted since the fabled Mushortio itself. And everyone sings beautifullly. Which enrages me. I a little bit hate my friends now.
