I was just wondering. I don't want this to turn into flamebait.
-
I really must admit - until now I haven't played any of them sucessfully. But when I'm really done with all this cab building, I sure will try. Not only do I really like Mahjong games (though more the typical one with the tiles layout like a dragon) - I also like these nice rewards you get in most of the japanese games! 8) Better nudity then brutality. ;)
-
I played a few times when I had windows 3.x. But other then that...
-
I prefer the normal four player mahjong (rare in all the mahjongs in mame). Two player mahjong is sort of like what video poker is to real poker; not the same, but based on the same idea.

You need a new option
O You just enable the cheats to see all the ProN!

Anybody have any tutorials on how to play majong? :P

But does that apply to mame? That's 4 player mahjong. 2 player computerized version work the same way?

Sort of, but there's a bunch of different rules and quirks. Sort of like the difference between "7 card stud" and "texas hold'em" poker games, or between "5 card draw" and video poker, or between "doubles sand volleyball" and "indoor sixes volleyball".

My mom used to play the real game with all the yentas. There were official rules that changed every year. They would mail out little instructional cards. I think the point was to keep it challenging, by introducing new variations.
But like poker, wouldn't it be kind of boring to play on the computer. You don't win real money. As for the nudity, they are usually crappy 16 color conversions.... go rent a porno ;D

I agree, porn and video games weren't meant for each other!

Hey, that's retroporn - and I love pixelated creatures! ;D

retroporn, that's nice :D
Of topic, but I'm guessing you had a lot of files with these extensions: FLC, FLI, and GL ;D
These kids with broadband don't realize how good they have it. Takes them an hour to download a 600MB full feature length porno.
Took us an hour to download a 1.4mb file that only had around 10 unqiue frames, and than they were just looped over and over (some times with varying speeds). Geesh, was barely even 10 years ago.

mahjong sucks. take it out of mame!

;) I had an AtariST those days when we were swapping around with floppydiscs that were called adult public domain :)

You know nothing of MAME, do you? Maybe take a read what the goal of it is - anyway, I'm sure there are many (not only) japanese guys out there that actually enjoy these games very much!

I don't care for Mahjong games, but I did a quick search and found a site that is specific to MAME:
http://perso.club-internet.fr/plamat/mah.html
it has links for these 3 as well:
http://mahjong.real-time.com/Documentation/Rules/rules.html
http://karlw_2.tripod.com/games/mahjong/rules.html

Cool - I just wonder when I'll have enough time left to get into it! :D
Glad you found a MAME-related explanation.

Here's a site for mahjong that is tied directly to mame. It was posted on Mameworld recently...
