Title: Getting paid with games
Post by: Hawkypro on June 22, 2008, 07:51:12 pm
This is what i got for a days worth of work out in Tyler, Texas.

I work part time for a family entertainment center as an arcade repair tech in north Texas. One night I was approached by a gentleman who used to run a arcade business and he said that he had over 100 games sitting in storage for 6 years collecting dust out in Tyler and wanted to know if I could repair games for him and he would pay me with games. This storage was packed full of games, very HOT, DIRTY and DUSTY. But, worth it.

Pole Position - not part of the take. Mame project - If I ever get to it.

B. Rap Boys - This game is in working condition. Has a Tatung monitor chassis that needs a cap kit as the colors are all funky and I cant dial it in. If anyone has got a manual for it let me know. Cab in good condition.

Commando - This game has no problems at all. Needs a new bezel and bezel glass.

Trivia Master - just barely in the picture. Don't know why I took this one, probably because its a cabaret and I can convert it to something else. Dead monitor.

Centipede - Game has a very loud hum coming from the speakers, Still has an original Big Blue cap in it - that might be the problem. Monitor has Centipede burn-in and the art work and control panel overlay need to be replaced. Game plays perfect.

Tetris - Not in the picture. This cab was converted from a Marble Madness (why oh why). The CP artwork needs to be replaced. Game has no problems.

2 - IGT Model 70 Manufactured in 1985 Poker machines from the Stardust in Las Vegas. These machines are in great shape but, need new monitors as the burn-in is very bad. 24-7 will do that to them. Oh, here is the kicker - the keys to get in them could not be located. :banghead: AAAAARRRRGGGGGHHHH. I couldn't pass them up.

Well, that's my take so far and will be going back out in a few weeks to do more work.

What games did he have there and what games did you repair?

Mcfreak,

I repaired 2 playchoice-10 machines a Pacman table top that had a sound and video issue, A Pacman machine that had the infamous hum-bar problem.

Just a few of the games in storage. Spyhunter, spyhunter2, eagle, sinistar, gauntlet, crazy and wild, more play choice machines, nfl blitz 99, phoenix (that might be the one I take next) cab is in poor condition. Donkey Kong, Popeye. No pins, these are long gone.
