Title: Need help with setting region in NullDC
Post by: Timstuff on May 27, 2008, 02:26:14 am
I just recently downloaded the Dreamcast Emulator "NullDC," and I've been trying to figure out how I can change the regional settings. I know that if say, I want to play a Japanese game I have to have the Japanese Dreamcast BIOS in the appropriate folder, and the same for American games with the American DC bios.

Unfortunately, the only BIOS that anyone has anywhere is the European PAL one. I read somewhere that you can actually edit the bios file to change the region, and that's what I plan to do to get the three different regioned Bios files.

But even so, in my head I'm still thinking "there's got to be a better way." I read that version 1.6 of NullDC is supposed to let you set the region, and there's a sub menu for regional settings on the menu bar. But all of the options are grayed out, and I have not been able to read anywhere about how to make this feature work correctly. Even after I have modified versions of the DC bios for all three regions, I don't know how I'm supposed to get NullDC to know that all three are available.

Can someone toss me a bone, please? I don't think I should be losing sleep over only being able to play PAL Dreamcast games on my PC...  ???

Never mind... I read on the official forum that the developer has the region-change option disabled for now since it's not finished. I guess I'll just have to keep all the different versions of the BIOS in seperate folders for now and swap them as necessary. :-\
