If I read these how-tos correctly (and there are a lot of them), I need to get the mechainstaller image onto an xbox memory card, and from there, copy it to the xbox's hard drive. Then I run mechassault and I should be good to go.
Well, I've got the mechainstaller image on the memory card (actually a 512MB coby mp3 player that the xbox formatted) and there isn't any way to copy the image to the xbox's hard disk. I used the program ozxmemory to copy the gamesave to the card. I wonder what is the problem. Be cool if this works. Then I wouldn't have to bother with the FTP method.

It is a game save. You copy it to the Xbox hard drive from the dashboard. Just click on your memory card and then copy it to the hard drive. Then you load up Mechwarrior and load the game called. "RUN LINUX".

You need an adapter that you can make or buy that plugs into the nonstandard xbox usb port and has a female USB on the other end to allow you to connect your MP3 play or USB memory stick or whatever else you want to use.

You cannot ftp to the xbox until you can run an ftp program and that takes a softmod or a modchip.
