I JUST got my mame done, and powered it up. When I turned it out the monitor had funny lines and said "over range"
Anyone know what that means? What do I do?
Thanks a ton in advance.
-
horiz frequency is above what the monitor can sync.
try 15 or 25 khz, and see what happens ......

I thought the 9400 was suppose to be all auto?
How do I adjust it?
p.s. thanks a ton for the help
-
it is to a point . specs at www.wellsgardner.com/pdf/Spec/D9400_SPEC.pdf
if the signal is out of range , it can't cope and gives an error message .
i'm NOT familiar with "mame" . so hopefully someone else on the board can tell us how to change mame
sweep frequencies down to what this monitor will like......(or if i can find out on searching )

link now works - sry, typos

Couldn't get the link to work....but I think I found out where it was anyways.
I hadn't even gotten mame running...do I need to do that before I switch to the wells monitor? Can the monitor "have windows going"?
Sorry I suck so bad....I really appreciate the help.

based upon a (brief) search, i'd say to use a computer monitor initially .
get the mame working, and then reduce the resolution settings to accomodate the monitor.
other ideas out there ?

Try this:

hmmm...., hadn't considered the posibility of a voltage level issue ......
just might fit the bill , RikaKazak.
tnx for the bulletin Sarge !

I appreciate the help a TON guys.
I tried adjusting the brightness etc. but when I click "OSD" on the control panel to bring up the menu, nothing would come up. I tried double clicking, single clicking, clicking and holding, clicking other buttons....but I never got a "menu" to appear.
Is my monitor retarded or am I?
p.s. going back down to the basement to try adjusting the resolution setting.
-
CGA Standard resolution 15.7KHZ Horizontal rate (like a TV) EGA Medium resolution 25KHZ Horizontal rate VGA 31.5KHZ Horizontal rate (like a desk top monitor in 640x480 mode). SVGA 35KHZ Horizontal rate and higher (800 x 600 mode).
Took that from wells gardner site. Could my computer be using SVGA instead of VGA and that be causing this trouble? Or will either one work?
Sorry, for all the questions, but I've been at this for hours and still no luck.
-
its almost certainly your video card resolution is too high, can you boot in safe mode?
-
WOOOOOOOOOOOOT!
Finally got it to work. I had to adjust the resolution (for the record, I did adjust it earlier, I just adjusted it to another res it still wouldn't accept).....god that was simple/I suck at life.
Thanks everyone who helped.
