Does any1 know anything about this boardset? I am buying this later today. I need to know if it will display on a LCD monitor.
-
No it will not.
-
This boardset wont play on an LCD by itself. The adapter can be very expensive and not worth it in my opinion. That said I play this game at least 30 min - 1 hr each day by myself and 3x that much during parties. In my opiunion it is a must.

Appears to be a Midway product. Parts and service are handled by Happ Controls now. It probably is CGA standard resolution only. I would agree that it is made for regular arcade monitors.

Thank you for all your help. Here's the update I went and bought the boardset and twisted the vendor's arm for a cab with monitor. I ended up with a showcase cab and a fairly new 33in monitor!!!! he said he'll have it built in about 3 weeks. I can't wait! now if any of you live close to the Indianapolis area and wouldn't mind helping me with the 49 way joysticks I'd appreciate it. The guy that is doing this for me doesn't want to do it. He said it is a lot of headache. I don't know how true it is so if someone can help me out here I'd appreciate it. Or at least point me in the right direction

It can be set by dip switch to run at standard or medium resolution.

Be interesting to see what that video card is outputting before it loops back into the game board.
We have one of these machines, but it's on location, so I can't futz with it now. But I have come across some different games over the years that use a PC based video card and output in VGA, which then gets downconverted to CGA or EGA on the game board or an adapter board. I suspect with this game the video card is simply outputting cga or ega, whichever is selected. Still, like to plug a vga monitor directly into the video card and see what happens... :)
Anyway, in it's native form, NFL Blitz 2000/NBA Showtime on NBC shipped expecting a medium res monitor, but as noted above it's switchable to standard res.
BTW, you did get a hard drive with your boardset I hope. Your boardset picture doesn't show the drive and the boards won't do you much good without the hard drive!

I have everything thanx :) how hard is it to install the 49 way joysticks?
-
I haven't messed with 49 ways so I can't help with that. I did want to ask who your vendor was though.
Good job on the great deal. :)

Chapter 1 (pdf) page 12 shows the control panel assembly.
If you are going to use 49 ways you need the control panel harness and the I-40 interface PCB (part no.04-11089)

This converter should allow it to run on a standard VGA LCD:
