Title: Vertical games on a horizontal monitor
Post by: gamecaptor on May 21, 2003, 06:45:42 pm
First off I should explain what I'm running:
Windows XP Pro
ArcadeVGA (running the shipped drivers)
Wells Garnder D9200 monitor (running at 640x480/32-bit/with WG Utility to add non-interlaced mode)

Sometimes when I try and run games in MAME32, I get a message on my monitor that says "Out of Range". One game in paticular that I tried is SD Gundam Neo Battling (Japan). It says it should run at 240x384@60Hz. Shouldn't my monitor support this? The one thing I notice is when I rotate the screen (clock wise or counter clock wise) it does play, so I'm assuming this is because the game is designed to run on a different resolution than what the monitor will display, but I really don't know. Any suggestions/advice would be apprecated.

Not sure what your problem is, probably the suto resolution.  make a neobattl.ini file in your mame folder and put
resolution              800x600
in it.  see what happens.
