Ok- first off its a bootleg popeye board. Has lines through the characters. See all pics enclosed of board and game playing. Dont know if its a bad ram chip and if so what # chip. And where to get a set ?
Thank You
-
Reseating the charachter eproms may cure that. It doesnt' quite look like a ram problem to me. But I don't work on the bootlegs very often.
Best,
- Mike -

Thanks Mike,
I will do that however I dont know which eprom out the the 9 is the character eprom
-
Either a graphics eprom problem or one of the set of 4 large ram chips (82N09 ?) in the left center of your pcb picture. Removing all 4 of those from a real board results in no sprites (moving characters) and missing or garbled graphics on the popeye logo screen.
-
I will reseat each set of ram chips and let you guys know how it goes. I dont have the time to spend on this as I just worked on my robotron and got it working 100%, now I need to installed the new cp overlay then play it.. so this popeye board will be up for sale
-

Well it's not mine because Kjoel doesn't want it to ship outside of the US.
I will probably never understand what _some_ US people find so hard about sending something abroad....sorry guys, it's not like rocket science. :dunno :dunno

Shipping out of USA- My experience-
Every time I have shipped out of the USA its been nothing but a headache. First off because its a zillion miles away I get the familiar- " I still have not received my package" . Then it take up to a month to receive the package. Purchasing insurance and dealing with the customs fees are another headache. Hell if the item gets damaged, good luck trying to get your money back on the item. Next theirs the scammers that try to send you fake money orders.. Always out of the country- Need I say more !!
My opinion -- I say the hell with shipping to other countries not worth the aggrevation ! Sorry :hissy:

yeah,..but LEVEL42 has been around a while on these posts and has a trade count of 2 (which counts for something) ive been around very little and i would give anyone a deal if the price was right. Its not that hard to do,..i guess the KLOV team had spoiled you joel. :dizzy:

I've had lots of orders (about 30) from the US come over and so far I've had 0 loss. Europe is not a zillion miles away, it's about 7 hours flying from the US east coast. Doesn't make much difference if it's in airmail from east to west coast or to here !!
Shipping times is usually around a week. I've ordered from Bob Roberts, www.Aracadeshop.com, www.cinelabs.com, www.tntamusments.com, www.t-molding.com, www.thisoldgame.com,www.mamemarquees.com, www.groovygamegear.com and I probably forgot some, plus several e-bay sellers.
All shipping times around a week, no problems (Except Todd from Tnt one time accidently shipped it surface mail, took about a month, but it arrived safely.)
I wouldn't care for insurance on a low-value item like that. I've never had it insured, and it always arrived. USPS is a very safe way to send stuff to Europe.
Customs fees a headache ? Who has to worry about that, not the sender ! All you have to do is indicate "gift" on the little green form and a value of about 20 bucks....no problems at all for you.
But you're right. Everyone outside of the US are all scammers sending fake money orders. Man, I don't even know how to issue a REAL money order. I use PayPal or Visa, pretty safe.
But hey, it's your call in the end :)
-
I was going to volunteer to play middleman ... then I realized that I'm outside of the USA and won't be doing a run to my US address for quite a while.
:dunno
Like Level42, I get lots of stuff from the USA ... rarely, if ever, a problem (so long as you don't use UPS).
It ain't a whole lot more difficult to ship stuff outside the USA than it is to ship stuff within the USA. As Level42 points out, as the sender you don't have to deal with customs fees, except to fill out a little form indicating what is in the package and what it is worth. A few words, a number and a checkbox is a hassle ?
As for scammers -- yeah, that Level42 is a total flake.
